The Committee have been working in the background to develop a new and exciting range of merchandise. The initial focus was on the Junior InterClub teams, however through discussions with Pacific Team Sports, we are close to being in a position to launch our initial range of products for all members (Junior and Senior).

Some samples are currently on display in the Clubhouse. These items are not for sale so please DO NOT take these away. they are available to determine your size only noting that refunds and exchanges are not available after an online order is placed.

the Club will not be holding any stock.

All samples have an identifying marker and will be different from the finalised product sent to you direct from Pacific Team Sports.

We have a few more administrative tasks to complete before the ordering process and information can be released, however we will aim to do that as quickly as possible.

This Friday at 4pm, we have an ideal window to apply sand to the courts ahead of the upcoming summer season.

With this particular task, we know that many hands, brooms and wheelbarrows make like light work.

If you are able to help, please drop a comment below (to ensure we have sufficient numbers) and connect with Lance and Dom on arrival.

Now that the earthquake has woken most of you this morning…

The courts will be out of action until 10am this morning while we conduct some minor court maintenance.

UPDATE: we have received a good level of interest in this programme and are now FULL. a cap on numbers means that coaches have manageable group sizes and participants get the dedicated coaching they are after.

we are offering our annual adult coaching programme for those that might be interested in learning the basics of tennis in a relaxed and fun environment.

Every Monday, for 6 weeks from 17 August, the programme costs $90 (with a discount going to anyone who joins for the first time).

the sessions will run from 6pm (to approx 7.30pm).

The programme is also available to those who have been members for up to 2 years.

kia ora tennis whānau

our tennis whānau have been blessed with the love, energy and competitive spirit of Lesa Wilkins over the years, however yesterday her health battle ended as she passed surrounded by her loving husband Rongo and son, Wetini.

On behalf of the Committee and members, we send our love and thoughts to Lesa’s siblings Lance, Tina and Sonya and their extended whānau.

To Rongo and Wetini, our memories of Lesa are precious. Through her involvement in Club Champs, InterClub (with the Ladies 1 team), coming to support her whānau and teams playing at the club, and continuing to attend club days when her energy allowed her to, her smile told us how much she enjoyed her time with us. thank you for sharing her with our whānau.

for those that wish to pay their respects, Lesa will lay at Te Whare Marie (entrance opposite the Porirua Dart Club, Kenepuru Drive) this afternoon at approx 4.30pm and then will travel to Whāngārā Marae, Gisborne early hours tomorrow morning.

Titahi Bay Tennis pays tribute to former President, Brian Haley who passed last Sunday.

Brian (with his wife Diane) joined the Club in 1978 and not before long found himself on the Commitee, and later serving as President from 1981 to 1984.

Brian was instrumental in the development of the tennis courts at Jillet St Park and the installation of the court lights at the Club early 1980’s.

Later joined by son Matthew and daughter Annemarie who participated in our Junior programme, it became a true family affair at the Club.

Brian was the epitome of a true club man through his support of all the club offered and its members.

The Club extends their condolences to Diane, Matthew, Annemarie and their extended whānau.

A service for Brian will be held on Tuesday 9 June, 2pm at Whenua Tapu Cemetery.

The whānau have advised that there will be a service at Ron’s home on Saturday at 2pm before they take him back to Gisborne on early Sunday morning.

Kia ora whānau

Sadly, we have lost a good friend and club member; and regretfully share the news of the passing of Ron Farrell at his home in Titahi Bay.

More familiar as our leader of the ‘Koro’ hitting group, we would often see Ron hitting most weekday mornings showing that his love of the game never waned over the many years he was a member of our club.

A special friend to some of our former juniors through the decades, Ron’s love and support spoke volumes in comparison to his quiet nature.

A proud māori man from Ngāti Porou, Ron was also an incredible sportsperson, representing the Kiwis in 1966 and Wellington rugby league over many years.

To Ron’s children, Mireille, Karen, Ricky and Dean, and your extended whānau, our most heartfelt condolences go out to you all.

Ron, we will miss you dearly.
