A beloved musical icon of Aotearoa New Zealand, Sir Dave Dobbyn is the hand and voice behind classic Kiwi hits like 'Loyal', 'Welcome Home' and 'Slice of Heaven'.

From pubs and living rooms to national memorial events, Dobbyn’s songs are woven into everyday life in Aotearoa New Zealand.

Our May 2026 stamp issue on Foraging explores edible plants that are easily identifiable and commonly found throughout Aotearoa New Zealand.

With artwork illustrated in beautiful detail by artist Erin Forsyth discover the wild, edible offerings of our beautiful backyard with these Foraging commemorative stamps.

Foraging offers a fun and rewarding way to connect with nature, and Aotearoa New Zealand is home to a bounty of edible flora. It’s important to forage safely – only pick plants you are sure you can identify using multiple sources (it’s best to leave mushrooms to the experts!); avoid sites that may be polluted, private property and reserves; and to keep it sustainable, take no more than one-third of a plant.

To complement the stamp issue, we've released a limited number of A3 Kawakawa art prints signed by Erin, and a set of six beautiful greeting cards, all available now at www.collectables.nzpost.co.nz

Manatū Taonga Ministry for Culture and Heritage is re-opening the National War Memorial to visitors, who will be welcomed back inside the memorial on Anzac weekend for the first time in six years.

This month we issued Anzac Traditions, a set of four stamps that reflects on the rituals people have participated in since the first Anzac Day: https://collectables.nzpost.co.nz/anzac2026

Homepage | Manatū Taonga | Ministry for Culture & Heritage New Zealanders will gather across the country on 25 April to mark Anzac Day 2026, coming together in remembrance of all those who have served the nation in times of war, conflict, and peace support operations.

Each year, Anzac Day on April 25th marks the anniversary of the landing of Australian and New Zealand soldiers – the Anzacs – on the Gallipoli Peninsula of Türkiye in 1915, during the First World War.

The first New Zealand Anzac Day was observed in 1916, the year following the landing, with parades of returned servicemen from Gallipoli and other campaigns, and sombre memorial services. In 1921 Anzac Day became a full public holiday. Since then, the annual commemorations remain an important time for local communities to make sense of the suffering and loss experienced during New Zealand’s wartime engagements.

Anzac Day traditions have evolved through the years to acknowledge all our military personnel who have served, and the diverse experiences of war. Yet many features of the original Anzac commemorations are still practiced.

Find out more about Aotearoa New Zealand's Anzac Day traditions with our April stamp issue, available now at www.collectables.nzpost.co.nz/anzac2026
