🏒💥 Welly Youth — last chance to level up in 2026! 💥🏒
Registrations are open for the final Ice Hockey New Zealand Youth Development Camp of the year, and we'd love to see a strong Wellington crew there. Not only do you get to increase your skills, you get to catch up with friends from across Aotearoa — the perfect way to finish the season on a high.
If your player’s keen to sharpen their edge work, boost confidence, and have an epic weekend on the ice, this is it.
Let’s get Welly represented — register now and lock in your spot!
The upcoming Auckland Youth Development Camp will place an increased emphasis on power skating, led by three of New Zealand's top skaters: Justin Daigle, Brooke Patron and Cole Beckstead.
These sessions will develop players' edgework, explosiveness and overall skating ability, all of which are fundamental to our sport.
The weekend schedule remains unchanged and will see a skating specialist and a goaltending specialist from USA Hockey joining top local coaches, working with both skaters and goaltenders throughout the weekend in a range of on and off-ice activity.
Registrations are open for players born 2008-2019, register on our website here: https://www.icehockeynz.co.nz/YDC

Today we want to acknowledge and celebrate Connor for the incredible impact he has made on our young players through the U12 Kiwi Ice Hockey School over the past four years.
Connor has brought endless energy, passion, commitment, and enthusiasm to the ice, helping develop not only hockey skills but also confidence, teamwork, and a love for the game in so many of our young athletes. His dedication to our hockey community has been truly appreciated.
We're proud to see him taking the next step in his hockey journey, heading off to play Junior Hockey with the Rogue Valley Royals for the 2026/27 season. While we'll miss having him on the ice, we're excited to follow his progress and cheer him on from Wellington.
Thank you, Connor, for everything you've given to Wellington Youth Ice Hockey. We wish you all the very best with the Rogue Valley Royals and can't wait to see what you achieve next!
💚🏒 Once a part of the Wellington hockey whānau, always a part of the Wellington hockey whānau. 🏒💚

🏒🔥 Primary School Street Hockey 🔥🏒
Thanks to Ice Hockey New Zealand we have some funding to kickstart a brand‑new Primary School Street Hockey Programme — and we couldn’t be more excited!
This funding helps us bring hockey directly to schools across the Wellington region, giving kids a fun, fast, confidence‑building way to try the greatest sport. Planning is underway, and we’re gearing up to roll sticks, balls, and smiles into as many schools as possible.
Got primary‑aged kids? Think their school would love to get involved? We want to hear from you!

Let’s grow the game, spark new passion, and get more tamariki discovering how awesome hockey can be. Wellington — let’s make this huge! 🖤💛🏒

Our four U18s are doing us proud in Dunedin 🖤💛
When they're facing each other on the ice there is no absolutely no mercy, there's plenty of chirping and they're hustling hard. But when they're off the ice they're celebrating each other's successes, they're recognising the hard work and of course still chirping each other 🤣
There is nothing like the whānau you make playing the sport you love.
Keep up the great work Sean, Elliot, JT and Connor

Coach vs. Players Battle 🔥
Tonight Connor (U18 Jr. Stampede) was on the ice facing against Hamish, Leo & Ryan (U16 NZ team) and all four boys did us proud.
Ryan was starting goalie facing 36 shots and ending with a .889% save rate. He earned the U16 team Game MVP 💪
Connor managed to get two goals past Ryan and earned himself one of the game stars 🌟
Congrats boys- keeping representing us with pride and heart 💛🖤
