Getting ready for the season. Our working Bee was a success as we get the club looking fresh and ready for the new season! We painted the entrance gates and fence and also put up the new flagpole.
A big Thankyou to Jill, Felix, Jackie, Chris and Eric for giving up their time to help Keith and Kay. Your help was very much appreciated.
Working Bees are a great way for members to get involve, contribute to the club and feel that they are part of our croquet community. Its also a great opportunity to catch up and enjoy good company.
To finish off the morning we enjoyed fresh scones and a well deserved cuppa.
Thankyou everyone your help makes a real difference to our club.

Five members participated in the 4th Winter Tournament at Mount Maunganui on Saturday. It was a beautiful day for croquet. Although the morning started off a little chilly, the weather soon warmed up, providing excellent playing conditions for a great day of Association Croquet.
As always, it was a pleasure to catch up with players from the different regions and enjoy the camaraderie that these events provide.
The morning session was played in an alternate-shot format, with high and low handicap players paired together. In the afternoon, players competed in singles games within their respective grades.
Congratulations to Keith Robinson, by finishing 3rd in the First Section.

WCC would like to thank Grey Force Home Care for their ongoing support and sponsorship of our 2nd Winter series AC tournament held at Waihi on Thursday 9th July.
Paul and his team at Grey force do an amazing job supporting our local Waihi community with home interior cleaning, window washing, lawn mowing, gardening, waterblasting, etc, especially with our elderly, helping them to stay independent in their homes. On a cold frosty morning Keith and Kay Robinson, Chris Browne, Lesley Chapman and Liz Jackson from the Waihi Croquet club competed in the 3rd winter AC tournament in Mount Maunganui on Saturday 4th July.
A new format was tried called alternate shots. This format is for a high handicap and low handicap player to partner each other and they are both on the court together. One player will play the roquet, the croquet shot is taken by the other player then the continuance is taken by the player that took the roquet, if the play breaks down then those players come off the court and the opponents then get to play the same pattern. It was interesting.
Three Waihi members were successful in bringing home the spoils. Congratulations go to the following members Section 1 Winner Chris Browne Section 2 runner up Lesley Chapman, 3rd place Liz Jackson.
Our Waihi Club certainly punches above its weight in tournaments in both codes Association and Golf Croquet.
While our club have some very keen members who enjoy their croquet at a competitive level, we also have many players who just like to play socially for the low impact exercise and the companionship this game brings.
If you would like to try this game come on down to the club at Morgan Park.
