🏁 Queens & Kings and Kids β€” Race Report 🏁

Had an awesome, fun weekend at Minigp Academy NZ’s NZSBK Kings, Queens & Kids! Event ❀️

I loved the opportunity to get back on the 160 Delirio after about six months away β€” and even got to zip around a wet track on a 190! πŸοΈπŸ’¨

🏍️ SATURDAY PRACTICE
Most of Saturday was wet thanks to the rain. The 160 I was riding unfortunately didn’t have wet tyres, but Paul Doherty was kind enough to lend me his 190 so I could get some valuable track time.

Towards the end of the day, the track dried up enough for me to jump back on the 160. πŸ™Œ

πŸ‘‘ WOMEN’S RIDE ❀️
One of the highlights of the weekend was the women’s ride at the end of Saturday! This was to celebrate all the new girls getting into the sport through MiniGP, as well as all the amazing women who help behind the scenes.

Every woman at the event was invited to get into their leathers and head out on track together β€” and we had 15 women out there in total!! πŸ‘β€οΈ

I had such a great time riding with all the other girls, especially when I spotted my own mum out on track and got to ride with her for a bit! πŸ₯Ήβ€οΈ

It was such a cool experience, and it was awesome seeing so many women and girls involved in the sport! πŸ™Œ

🏁 SUNDAY RACING 🏁

🏁 Race One β€” P4
Due to issues with the lights and multiple riders stalling on the start grid (I was one of them πŸ«£πŸ˜‚), our race was moved behind the next class. Definitely a rough start!

I stalled AGAIN on the restart πŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸ˜‚, but finally got it together and we were off racing! πŸοΈπŸ’¨

It took me a few laps to get back into the groove, but I started chasing the leaders and finished P4! πŸ’ͺ

🏁 Race Two β€” P5
A clean start this time (no stalling! πŸ˜‚πŸ™Œ), and I spent the entire race battling with two other riders.

Finished P5, and this was definitely my favourite race of the day! πŸ”₯🏍️

πŸ¦† TEAM EVENT RACE β€” DNF
This event was something completely different to the individual races, as it was based on a set time rather than laps!

On Saturday, we were split into teams consisting of one Senior, one 160 Junior and one 110 Junior. The seniors picked an envelope containing a number to determine their starting position, and the finishing position of the rider before you determined your starting position for your race.

Each team was also allocated a rubber duck to race with! πŸ¦†πŸ˜‚

My teammates were Keiran Mair Racing (Senior) and Lucas Jensen (110 Junior), and our brilliant strategy to keep our team duck attached while racing was... DUCT TAPE! πŸ˜‚πŸ¦†

We used a fair amount to make sure that duck stayed on our helmets! 🀣

The race started with the 110 riders running around the pits to deliver their ducks to the 160 riders waiting at the clubrooms. We then had to run to pit lane and hand the duck over to the seniors.

Kieran finished P3 πŸŽ‰, so I started 3rd for my race!

I was P3 for most of the race, but towards the end, another rider and I unfortunately collided at one of the corners. Thankfully, we were both okay. ❀️

Lucas had a great race and was running 2nd. Unfortunately he crashed mid-race in the 110 Junior race, so our team didn't make the podium. However, I had an absolute blast, and it was really cool seeing all the riders working together as a team! πŸ™ŒπŸ¦†

❀️ OVERALL

Overall, it was an incredibly fun weekend! I loved getting back on the Delirio and competing alongside all the kids I started my racing journey with. It was such a great experience! 🏍️❀️

It was awesome seeing how much everyone has improved β€” not just the riders I already knew, but all the new riders and the huge number of have-a-go riders who came along, gave it a try and got involved! πŸ‘

The team race was such a cool new addition, and it was a fantastic event all round! πŸπŸ¦†

A massive thank you to Vince and Paul for lending me their bikes, and to everyone who helped make this weekend a reality. β€οΈπŸ™Œ

I cannot wait for Queens & Kings and Kids to come around again next year! 🏁❀️🏍️

***NOT JUST FOR KIDS***

Why MiniGP machines?

Machines such as Kayo, Ohvale, PowerCorsa Motorsport Delirios all share key attributes that Road Racers need to know.

You want to improve your lap times on 600cc/1000cc machines awesome. How much does it cost you to go and do a test day or trackday? And how many laps do you get at those days?

MiniGP machines operate at a fraction of the cost of your big bike. Here are some stats:

Oil capacity: 1L, changed every 5-10hours depending on model
Tyres: On a 160cc last 25 hours+ of running - RRP for a pair of Pirelli Moto NZ slicks is less than $399
Fuel: less than 5L per day

Next the cost of MiniGP Racing and trackday entry is roughly half that of a standard trackday. The tracks are far more technically meaning you practice your skills of CORNERING far more often. And you complete far more laps per session.

Resale value: MiniGP machines have great second hand resale value. As regulations prohibit engine modifications and suspension upgrades the $$ you put into a MiniGP Machine is not wasted away when it come time to sell one.

"But they are slow...."

Marc Chappell Racing Clocked a Top GPS speed of 139.1KPH at Manfeild on Sunday.......

Thats on a bike that is 93cm tall with 10 inch wheels and around 13HP..... (160cc 2 valve machine).

The 190CC Daytona machines push out 25hp.
