When soph 🍷 reached out to the Club back in March, volunteering to take photos and videos of the season, we had no idea just how much talent, energy and fun she would bring, or just how much her contribution would elevate the 2026 season with what she's shared.
With an impressive background in film, as part of the team that won the 2024 New Zealand Youth Film Festival Best Overall Film, where she was the cinematographer for 'The Unlikely Voyage'. Sophie put her hand up for the season with some clear personal goals: to grow her skills in documenting sport and create a video capturing what Pioneer Netball Club is all about.
Not only did Sophie take the court herself in our Custom Mortgages Pioneer team, she was also courtside for countless Pioneer games capturing all the moments that make up a netball season… from team huddles to intercepts, warm ups to goals scored, centre passes to bench side cheers Sophie has been there for it all.
We were so excited to premiere Sophie’s finished video at Pioneer Prizegiving and it has been under lock and key for the past two weeks…But here it is!

We’re already on the lookout for coaches for the 2027 season! And yes… we’re getting in early because we want to make sure we have plenty of support in place for all of our teams next year.
If coaching has ever crossed your mind, drop us a message to find out more. No commitment required, we’d simply love to have a chat and see if coaching could be something for you!
And you don’t have to do it all by yourself! In the past we have had two players take on a team together, and it was such a fun way to share the responsibility, bounce ideas off each other and grow together. The club also provides coaching resources and support and we make sure our coaches across the club are connected so they can share ideas and support each other throughout the season.
Coaching is not only a great way to give back to the sport, it’s also an awesome opportunity to develop your understanding of the game, grow your leadership skills and take your own netball to the next level.
