Kia ora,
We wanted to share some exciting news around our Hydrotherapy Pool carpark!
While some smaller key pieces of work remain, we expect to have this new and expanded space ready to open to WRAC customers toward the end of June! We greatly appreciate your patience while this work has been ongoing.
Please note that in addition to other physical changes in this area, stays in these carparks will be limited to 120 minutes.
Additionally, we want to ensure all WRAC customers are aware that after this expanded carpark reopens, ongoing work in the adjacent Kilbirnie skate park is expected to move into the carparking area at the southern end of WRAC between us and Kilbirnie Recreation Centre / Ruth Gottlieb Library. This is anticipated to have a significant impact on parking availability in this area.
Additional information and detailed updates around this ongoing project can be located on Wellington City Council's website or by following:

🌈 Good luck to Different Strokes Wellington heading to Spain! ✈️
We’re proud to give a shoutout to Different Strokes Wellington (DSW) – Wellington’s LGBTQIA+ swimming club – as their members prepare to travel across the globe to Spain to compete in the Valencia Gay Games XII 2026!
Founded in 2008 (originally as Wellington Gay Swimmers) and based at the Wellington Regional Aquatic Centre, DSW was created to provide a safe, welcoming, and competitive space for LGBTQIA+ swimmers. Today, they continue to champion inclusion, diversity, and community in and out of the water.
Ahead of their trip, the team made the most of a dedicated coaching session, practicing starts off the diving blocks – something they don’t usually get regular access to. It was fantastic to see the focus, determination, and team spirit as they fine-tuned their skills ahead of the big event. 💪
The Gay Games brings together athletes from around the world in a celebration of sport, culture, and inclusion, where everyone is welcome and every participation counts. We know Different Strokes swimmers will represent Wellington with pride!
👏 Best of luck in Valencia – we’ll be cheering you on all the way! 👏
