π₯Want to give something back to the Wellington Athletics Community this Spring/Summer?
Athletics Wellington needs some volunteers!
πββοΈ The Athletics Wellington Junior Committee (AWJC) needs a new Committee Secretary if it is to continue this season and help create future Olympic Champions. This is a great opportunity for someone to make a valuable contribution to junior athletics in our region.
πββοΈ The Athletics Wellington Junior Committee organises six Athletics Wellington Interclub meets each summer season and the annual Junior Championships in February. It also supports meets hosted by the Lower Hutt and Paraparaumu clubs.
πββοΈ The committee meets monthly between August and March, using online meeting technology to eliminate the need for any travel. The meetings are typically straightforward and finish in less than one hour.
πββοΈ The committee secretary supports the AWJC Convenor with arranging online meetings and prepares minutes. The role requires the usual skills of a meeting secretary, but some prior knowledge of junior athletics would be an advantage. The secretary also publishes information to club representatives, for further distribution to their club members.
πββοΈ Total time commitment, including attendance at the committee meetings, is approximately 3 hours per month between August and March.
πββοΈThe role of committee secretary can be undertaken from home and does not require attendance at the Junior interclub meets or Champs.
πββοΈTo find out more or register interest, please email: [email protected]
πββοΈ There is a further separate role of Competition Secretary that also needs to be filled. This is a different role and it is not expected that the Committee Secretary will also take on the work of being the Competition Secretary. Please email above for more details.
