🧠 Exercise isn’t just for the body – it’s for the mind.
Meta-analyses show that 150 min/week of moderate activity reduces symptoms of depression and anxiety and improves cognitive function. (Source: Cooney et al., 2013 – Cochrane Review)
✅ Tip: Even a 30-min brisk walk or a resistance session can boost mood and brain health.
Join one of our small group classes this week and move for your mental wellbeing.

🥗 Food is fuel – but also medicine.
A whole-food, nutrient-dense diet rich in vegetables, fruits, lean protein, and healthy fats:
- Reduces chronic inflammation
- Supports recovery and immunity
- Improves body composition
(Source: Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health)
✅ Tip: Fill half your plate with vegetables and fruits at every meal. Color = variety = antioxidants.

💪 Strength training isn’t just for aesthetics – it’s for life.
Studies confirm that resistance training 2–3x per week:
- Increases lean muscle mass
- Improves bone density
- Enhances insulin sensitivity
- Supports mental health
(Source: Westcott, 2012 – Strength Training for Health and Longevity)
✅ Tip: Start with compound lifts like squats, rows, presses – focus on form and progressive overload.

💤 Your gains happen when you rest, not just when you train.
Research shows that 7–9 hours of quality sleep improves muscle recovery, hormone balance, and mental wellbeing. Chronic sleep restriction can reduce muscle protein synthesis and impair fat metabolism. (Source: Schoenfeld et al., 2019)
✅ Tip: Set a consistent bedtime, avoid screens 1 hour before bed, and keep your bedroom cool and dark.
Make sleep a priority this week – your body will thank you.

🍊 Vitamin C: Why You Need It Year-Round
Vitamin C is a water-soluble vitamin, meaning it isn’t stored in the body and needs to be replenished regularly through food or supplements. It plays an essential role in:
- Tissue repair and wound healing
- Collagen formation for healthy skin, joints, and connective tissue
- Neurotransmitter production to support brain health and mood
- Immune system support to help fight illness
- Protecting cells from oxidative stress (free radical damage)
Because it leaves the body quickly, daily intake is important. While about 60 mg/day is enough to prevent scurvy, research suggests that around 300 mg/day supports optimal health and wellbeing.
🍇 Where to Find Vitamin C:
- Citrus fruits (oranges, lemons, limes)
- Berries (strawberries, blueberries, blackcurrants)
- Vegetables, especially leafy greens and brassicas (broccoli, kale, Brussels sprouts)
🧊 Why Winter Can Be a Challenge:
Up to 80% of Vitamin C (and other water-soluble vitamins) can be lost within just four days of harvest. In winter, fresh summer fruits are less available, and those in stores are often picked early or shipped long distances - meaning they may have lower nutrient levels by the time they reach your plate.
For this reason, considering a high-quality Vitamin C supplement during the colder months can help maintain healthy levels, support your immune system, and keep your energy up year-round!
