A fresh new look is coming to Ika Rere! 👀
If you've spotted Ika Rere out of the water at Seaview Marina, there's a good reason.
As part of our routine planned maintenance, we're giving the hull a fresh protective coating and installing brand-new passenger seating throughout the vessel. You might have already spotted a few of the new seats onboard over the past year while we tested them, and now we're completing the full upgrade.
The new seating reduces the vessel's weight by around 700kg, making Ika Rere even more efficient through the water while giving everyone a more comfortable journey.
We can't wait to welcome you back on board next week so you can check out the refreshed interior for yourself! 🚢
Stay tuned to our Stories for a first look at the new interior before we're back on the water!

Honouring Captain Lewis Robinson QSM
Yesterday's weather caused significant disruption to our services, but those who travelled with us may have noticed our vessels flying New Zealand maritime flags at half-mast.
This was in recognition of Captain Lewis Robinson QSM, a highly respected Wellington mariner who passed away last week.
Over several decades, Lew made an outstanding contribution to Wellington's maritime community. He served as Launchmaster for the Maritime Police, Tugmaster for CentrePort, and was deeply involved with Wellington Coastguard and Water Safety New Zealand. Lew also spent the final years of his working career as a skipper with East By West Ferries.
We extend our sincere condolences to Lew's family, friends, and the many people whose lives he touched throughout his remarkable maritime career.
