Throughout August and September, more than 500 students took advantage of the opportunity to find out more about trades and services careers at 14 Speedmeet events throughout the North Island and Christchurch.

In the first week of the School holidays 21 students came together at Piritahi Marae on Waiheke Island from Avonside Girls' High School, Waitakere College, Ao Tawhiti Unlimited Discovery, Tauraroa Area School, Waiheke High School, St. Kevin's College, St Dominic's Catholic College, Campion College, Gisborne, Ormiston Senior College and Edgewater College for the Maori Tourism Cultural Camp.

Rocket Labs CEO and former Competenz Engineering Apprentice Peter Beck has been appointed Adjunct Professor in Aerospace Engineering at the University of Auckland.
βStudying at university had been my intention from a young age, but I pursued an apprenticeship because I believed the skills Iβd gain working hands-on with machinery would make me a better engineer.β

Starting this Thursday we will be in 15 regions during August and September, offering the chance for young people to meet employers from a huge range of industries who offer 'earn and learn' pathways through industry training and apprenticeships. Its a fantastic way to meet real employers, discover new career possibilities, and get that all-important interview practice!
