Tough result midweek.

A big game on a Wednesday night!

Rounding out a clean sweep for our competitive teams this weekend, the Women's came back from 1-0 down to defeat reserves 6-2.

After an unfortunate early goal, the team responded brilliantly. The equaliser came courtesy of Jazz Prince, her lightning pace getting her on the end of a Millie Lynskey through ball. She cut inside her defender at the top of the box and lobbed the retreating Miramar keeper.

Carmen Koed Chang put us ahead, finishing a goalmouth scramble after a clever set piece between Millie and Jazz.

Millie turned goalscorer next, running onto a throughball from Nicole Macdonald before cutting in and finishing with her left foot into the bottom left corner.

Ten minutes later Millie had her second, placing a freekick past the keeper into the right side of the goal.

Jazz then repaid Millie for her earlier assist, squaring the ball in the box. A clever feint took Millie past her defender and she finished low and hard to seal the hattrick.

Millie almost got a fourth, her shot following Nicole's pass being knocked onto the post by the Miramar keeper. However, Carmen was in hand to clean up, and made no mistake in blasting the ball into the roof of the net.

All in all, a successful weekend for the club!

Roadtrip success | The Women's Firsts made the long trip to Taradale worth it with an astounding 8-2 win. The goalscoring opened in the first minute, a Nicole Baird corner palmed into the net by the Taradale keeper. It's been recorded as an Own Goal, but very much looked on target.

Taradale responded and took a 2-1 lead, but it wasn't to stand for long. Nicole equalised with a freekick, before Sofia George finished a scramble from a corner to regain the lead.

The buffer was increased as Nicole got on the scoresheet again, this time with another freekick struck brilliantly into the top corner.

In first half stoppage time Lucy Macdonald brought down a long ball from Lucea Bedford, spun and played a perfectly weighted throughball for Sofia, who finished with aplomb into the bottom left corner.

The second half picked up where the first left off, Georgie Gardner playing in Lucy to finish into the bottom left for our sixth of the game.

Lucy doubled her tally next, her blistering pace taking her past the Taradale defence near half way before finishing into the roof of the net from the edge of the box.

Georgie rounded things off following an excellent one two between Sofia and Holly Watson (ft an Ella Simmonds stepover). A Taradale defender's tackle fell kindly to Georgie, who lobbed the keeper from outside the box.

A fantastic result and a reward for some hard work over recent weeks.

The Women's Reserves host at Boyd Wilson, kicking off at 1pm.

The women's firsts are away this weekend, taking on in Hawke's Bay at 11am Sunday. Bring back the W!
