They got through in a nailbiter against Havelock North. Ray won well in his singles, but the pairs lost. Fours came down to even on the last end, with Havelock putting in a backjamner, but Tim was able to move, and James drew the game winner.

The Victoria Invitation Pairs is on this weekend with, as usual, the strongest field of any Wellington bowls tournament. This year, two world bowls champions from the South Island, Gary Lawson and Shannon McIlroy are teamed up together.

At least one Victoria player has been in the winning pair for each of the last four years. Can it be extended to 5 in a row?
