Brooklyn Cricket Club is a social grade Cricket Club based in Wellington New Zealand, affiliated with Cricket Wellington

We are a small friendly club based in Brooklyn, Wellington. Brooklyn is a lovely village on a hill, with streets named after US Presidents, and the best combination fried rice in the city (at Nan King Takeaways)

From the Chairman's Desk, an excerpt from the upcoming Chairman's Report.
..one of the items that has emerged recently is a discussion around becoming an incorporated society. To help, here is a link to "pros and cons of being incorporated" from New Zealand sport.https://sportnz.org.nz/media/tqkcaxfc/pros-and-cons-of-incorporation.pdf
Some points to remember as it relates to Brooklyn Cricket Club. Neither New Zealand Cricket or Cricket Wellington requires it. BCC has never entered into a signed contract. We have no property either rented, leased or owned and have never taken a loan or purchased any insurance. A $102 application fee is payable and an annual return must be filed with the Incorporated Societies register.
Our funding provider does not require incorporation. BCC has never had a formal constitution, for 113 years we have got along on nothing more complicated than consensus. In my opinion it is a level of bureaucracy that is not required...
AGM is Wednesday 12th from 6.30pm at Hutson Hall in the Reformed Church in Harrison Street Brooklyn. (Yes, the Hutson that played for us in 1912) If you paid subs last year you have a vote. come along and vote in person on any issues, like the above, your subs or election of officers. You may proxy your vote. Proxies should reach the Chairman before 5pm on the day of the meeting.

To the Members of Brooklyn Cricket Club Committee and Captains
I am writing to announce my candidacy for the position of Chairman of Brooklyn Cricket Club (BCC). Over the past 11 years, I have been proud to be part of this Club. Nearly 30 years ago, I played my first game for the juniors. In the past, my family has been heavily involved with the club. I would love the opportunity to do the same.
I want to run for Chairman because I believe the Brooklyn Cricket Club is facing considerable challenges with an aging membership and insufficient numbers of new players joining the Club. The BCC needs to develop a strategic pathway for members of
the Brooklyn Junior Cricket Club to transition into the Senior Club, as well as successfully attracting other players to join. If you elect me, my main goals will be:
● Growing the membership of the club through providing a pathway from juniors to seniors.
● Improving communication to club members via multiple channels, including social media.
● Maintaining responsible financial management.
I look forward to discussing my vision for the Brooklyn Cricket Club with you all at the upcoming AGM. In the meantime, please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions, suggestions, or ideas for the future of the club.
Thank you for your time, support, and dedication to the club.
Ngā mihi,
Craig Montgomery

From the Chairman's Desk. A huge windmill sized thank you to those that came out to contest the Trevor McKeown Cup on Sunday and didn't the weather come to the party too.
Thanks to our gracious hosts the Vogelmorn Tennis Club. They said you can't play a double handed backhand like a pull shot and it turns out they were entirely right. The level of effort from Brooklyn Cricket was top notch and everyone had their moment with a fine shot or two. It was just a shame we could not string a few more together
After a fabulous, shared lunch and a few more games, upon checking the score card I saw we were down 16 games to 3. It was about then I realized a comeback was unlikely and decided to concede.
Vogelmorn Tennis are going to engrave their name on the trophy and rightly so. When they defend the trophy, in cricket, I am hoping we will do a little better.
On the front right of the header photo is D Pickett (Club Captain), on Sunday I found out from Vogelmorn Honours Board he was also a President of that Club.
Here's a photo from the day.

From the Chairman's Desk.
Tennis on Sunday begins at 10am. Tennis for a couple of hours, a shared lunch (feel free to bring something) and then some more tennis. Whether you want to come along in the morning or afternoon, or even if you are a lunch specialist, it's all good. Partners and kids welcome, racquets supplied. Look forward to seeing some of you there.

From the Chairmans Desk.
The Trevor McKeown Cup is on Sunday 12 July. It's got all the things we love in it. The Brooklyn community, Brooklyn Cricket history, Us and sport. Sounds exactly like the sort of thing a good Brooklyn man, or woman, would be all over. A few have decided to play but room for more.
Accentuate the Brooklyn.

From the Chairman's Desk
The Trevor McKeown Challenge Cup is up for grabs!
Brooklyn Cricket is defending the Cup, in Tennis this time, against the Vogelmorn Tennis Club. Trevor, who is in the main photo with Jack and friends (front row 3rd from right) was an officer of both Clubs and donated the trophy in 1974. It has been played for 5 times since then. I am one of probably 3 current Brooklyn men who have played in one of these before.
We are putting together a team with room for a dozen or more players, partners too if any would like to join us.
Sunday 12 July. Speak up if you are interested. Vogelmorn will supply bats if needed and tennis ability is optional.
Accentuate the Brooklyn!

From the Chairmans Desk.
It is my sad duty to announce that today Brooklyn Cricket Club lost life member Jack McDonald after a short illness.
Jack was a tearaway bowler in his younger years and is in the cover photo. (Back row second from left) I met Jack last year at his home in Queensland, where recounting his time with Brooklyn Cricket Club still brought a big smile to his face.
Brooklyn Cricket Club thoughts and sympathies go out to his wife, daughter, granddaughter and great granddaughters.
Forever part of our history.

Why these guys smiling so beamingly?
Well your looking at the Clubs best batsman & bowler..

Craig Montgomery with 35 wickets for the club gave him top wicket taker alongside about 105 runs which also gave him the prestigious all round trophy. Kapai Craig thats an astonishing amount of wickets esp most of them in T20.

Chris Pearman with 515 runs for the Windmuppets also gave him top run scorer for the club. Those runs came at 42.92 with a healthy SR of 183. Impressive stat is Chris scored 43 x 6's & 36 x 4's. Lets say a few went out of the park.

Tim Jefferies was given MVP for the club with his outstanding effort with 29 wickets. His econ of 6.2 & SR of 12.9 meant he featured most weeks & nabbed a lot of 3-2-1 points on offer each Sat.

Christy Kimble was given the Trophy for highest individual prformance with 144* of 60. Continuing on with his great performances of 24/25.

Sean O'Connor was given the prestigious Clubman trophy for his intiatives off the field & creating a stronger sense of Whanaungatanga. We appreciate what you are doing in the area Sean. Onward & upwards.

The Windmuppets for finishing the highest team in the club with a strong 3rd. Well done lads.... great season.

If you want to know each team awards then flick the skipper a PM & they will give you the deets.

We appreciate S Daniel James & the lads from Codgers for hosting Prizegiving. Dave Lum for Livestreaming of the evening (can also still be watched. & of course Daz aka Chairmans Desk for all his off field antics keeping Brooklyn Cricket Club running with grants, kits & comms.

Finally a big thankyou to players from the Jamicans, Highwaymen, Wombles, Windmuppets, Codgers & Antiques Roadshow... & the supporters who allow cricket to occur on a weekly basis during summer.... give us a Windmill.

From the Club Captain I wish you a wonderful off-season. Stay well, stay crickety.... loving ya work.
