💛 A MESSAGE TO OUR WIS COMMUNITY 🖤
Dear WIS Community,
Today, we have some difficult news to share.
After 19 incredible years at City Station, Wellington Indoor Sports will be closing our City Station venue on 31 October 2026.
Our lease with KiwiRail has expired and, despite exploring every option to remain at City Station, the terms of a new lease have changed considerably and unfortunately, we have been unable to reach an agreement.
This is not a decision we have taken lightly.
For 19 years, City Station has been a huge part of Wellington Indoor Sports — but more importantly, it has been a place where thousands of people have come together.
It has been a place to play sport, compete, make friends, build teams and create memories.
From lunchtime games and evening leagues, to social competitions and serious battles. From kids' activities to those classic conversations after the final whistle — City Station has always been about much more than just sport. It has been about COMMUNITY.
And that is why we want to take this opportunity to say a massive THANK YOU.
Thank you to every player, team, captain, referee, coach, parent, supporter and staff member who has been part of the City Station journey over the past 19 years.
Thank you for turning up week after week.
Thank you for bringing your friends, your teammates and your families.
Thank you for the laughs, the rivalries, the celebrations, the frustrations and all the memories.
You have helped make Wellington Indoor Sports what it is today, and we are incredibly grateful.
🖤 BUT THIS ISN'T THE END OF WIS 💛
While City Station is closing, Wellington Indoor Sports is not going far.
SHED 1 – WELLINGTON WATERFRONT
Our premium Shed 1 venue on the Wellington Waterfront continues to host Indoor Football leagues at lunchtime and in the evenings. We would love to welcome new players and teams to join us.

HUTT INDOOR SPORTS
With City Station closing, Hutt Indoor Sports in Seaview, Lower Hutt will be the next best option for Indoor Netball and Indoor Cricket.
It is a premium venue with plenty of carparking and we encourage our WIS community to continue supporting indoor sport in the Wellington region.

19 YEARS. THOUSANDS OF GAMES. COUNTLESS MEMORIES. ONE INCREDIBLE COMMUNITY
As we look towards the final weeks at City Station, we want to celebrate everything that this place has meant to so many people.
If you have a favourite City Station memory, a photo from over the years, an old team photo, a great story or simply a moment that makes you smile — we'd love you to share it with us in the comments.
Let's fill the final weeks with some of the memories that have made City Station so special.
Thank you, City Station, and most importantly, thank you to everyone who has been part of the WIS family over the past 19 years.
