The Wellington junior secondary school competition started last night at WRAC and Huia Pool. Good luck to all the players in the water, and thanks to all the coaches, managers, refs and pool controllers that helped make it happen. We’re looking forward to a competitive 6-week season, run with our partners at College Sport Wellington.

Friday Night Mini Polo Draw & Information:
As part of being able to run this competition in Level 2 there are a number of things that we have introduced that will be different from Level 2 Mini Polo in the past to make sure that we do the right things to keep everyone safe.
These are outlined below:
1. We are not able to have spectators poolside to limit the amount of people in the facility for adequate spacing Each team will be able to have up to 2 people poolside (Coach and manager) at the games. Parents will need to drop their children off and pick them up from the entrance.
2. There will be no recreational swimming area set up as in the past, children will play their game and then will need to leave the facility to comply with the rules of Level 2.
3. Where possible children need to come changed and ready to play as the changing rooms are shared with other user groups. This will mean we can adequately manage the bubbles. If children are needing to change after their matches they will then proceed to the spray changing rooms to change and meet their parents for pick up at the entrance of the pool. Where possible it would be good if kids can leave the facility without changing.
4. We will have designated meeting areas for the teams playing at each half hour game time. Teams need to meet in the gallery section upstairs 10 minutes before the games commence.
If you are the white caps in the C grade you will sit your team in Gallery 4 at the bottom of the stands.
If you are the blue caps in the C grade you will sit your team in Gallery 4 at the top of the stands
If you are the white caps in the A/B grade you will sit your team in Gallery 5 at the bottom of the stands
If you are the blue caps in the A/B grade you will sit your team in Gallery 5 at the back of the stands.
The pool controller will come to the stairs and call your teams down to get their caps on and get ready for the games to try and have as much space poolside and minimal movement between bubbles.
5. Your team will come down with their gear and put it in your designated areas of which there will be signs up:
White caps for the C grade will put their gear in Area 1
Blue caps for the C Grade will put their gear in Area 2
White Caps for the A/B grade will put their gear in Area 3
Blue caps for the A/B grade will put their gear in Area 4.
6. If you have players that are playing between teams I have worked out the draw so that teams from the same school are playing directly after each other to make sure that children don't have to wait between games as we have no designated areas for this. They will meet their team at the end of the game at the gear station where the next team is dropping their gear too.
We want to make sure that we are able to run this competition so it's really important that teams adhere to the rules in order for this to happen.
We have the safety of the kids in mind & have gone to a lot of work with the pool to make sure we can play.
Draw for This coming Friday:
Please note that there are a couple of teams that have a double round of games - Please do check both pools if you are highlighted blue teams as we do have some double rounds.
We are going to try 25 mins game slots so that we are able to have all of the teams play without missing a game.
The first two weeks are grading games so that we can make sure that teams are playing in the right grade and there could be some movement after this week's games

This chat is with Sami Hill who was one of the two olympic goalkeepers in Rio. Interesting chat about training just to train and how hard it was to break into the team. Flipping the switch of your mindset.

Hi Guys - You might have seen that there has been some question and answer sessions with some of the best players in the world in the last week with Olly Gibb. He has very kindly sent me the links so that if you missed them you are able to watch them for yourselves.
Today's link is MaKenzie Fischer who has won three world championships with The USA Team and an Olympic Gold Medal. She has won pretty much everything there is to win in the world.
