Mt Vic Trails

Things have been a bit quiet around here, but not on the hill. The great crew at Matairangi (Mt Vic) Trail Builders have taken up the baton and have been on a charge for the past year upgrading the trails we all love, and working on an epic new trail on the eastern (airport) side of Alexandra Road.

The NZ Red Bull Pump Track World Championship Qualifier will be happening at the Miramar Trail Project on the 28th of April (the day after the Escape from Mount Crawford Enduro (https://www.facebook.com/events/404451867046750 ), so there will be plenty of time for practice).

April 28th, Wellington, New Zealand - Red Bull Pump Track World Championship The Red Bull Pump Track World Championship is a global series taking pump track racing to the next level, crowning the official Pump Track World Champion. Entry is open to all.

The exit from Mount Vic onto the Pirie Street playground (the bus tunnel & basketball court exits) have been closed following a recent hospitalisation.

This is a reminder to us all - the trails are shared, and are a privilege, not a right. Please look ahead when you're riding, and make sure that you're able to stop in the distance of trail you can see.

The Welly Club is working with the council to resolve the trail exit, and hope to have an update soon. In the meantime, if you're leaving the hill at Pirie Street, please use the steps (the route up from the playground), or exit via Majoribanks Street.

A second productive work party on Hippies means this weekend you can enjoy the trail in all it's restored glory. Nice work WORD team!

Hippy's trail was well overdue a tidy up, last night the 13-17 year old boys put in a monster effort and managed to get a big section of the work done! Legends! Mt Vic Trails

A huge thanks to the team from Burkes Cycles + James and Ben who got out last night in very average conditions to give Hippy's a bit of a tidy up. Great work was done getting the w**ds back under control and fixing sight lines. We even discovered a berm that had been missing for the last year or so. From the entrance to the big table top is in much better shape now but after that it gets narrow and w**dy again. Same again in a week or two to finish it off!

The Burkes Cycles team are going to be doing some work tomorrow evening (Tuesday) from 5.30pm-7.00pm on Hippies. They will be cutting back the worst of the w**d growth so that we can enjoy a mint summer ripping along the track. Stop by and lend a hand on your way home from work if you're able. We will close the trail while it is happening but there are other options including carefully going down the walking track or dropping in by the toilets further down.
