Congratulations to Ohope taking out the title for the first time in 11 years in our local women’s competition. Well played 👏🏼

Well they’ve gone and done it again 🏆 👏🏼

What an awesome game it was to watch. A real nail biter! You fought to the very end. You hung in after being down by one in the 3rd, and Stacey Mexted coming in with a beauty equaliser off a PC in the 4th👌.

You once again found yourselves in a shoot out (de ja vu) but remained level headed (externally anyway). And Erin Mcdonald, saving all but one shot…… just wow!

You should all be Whaka proud 💪🏼 because we certainly are! 🥇

🏑 GRAND FINAL BOUND! 🏑

This Saturday, 15th August, our Whakatāne Intercity Women’s team take on Varsity Premier in the Grand Final in Tauranga at 1:30pm! 🔥

This is their third consecutive year making the finals, and what an achievement that is. These ladies have shown incredible grit, determination and dedication throughout the season to earn their place on the big stage.

They’ve faced their fair share of challenges along the way, including a number of injuries, but they never let it stop them. They dug deep, backed each other and kept pushing forward — and now they have one final game to go! 💪

It’s sure to be a fantastic game to watch, and if they can get the job done, it will be back-to-back Grand Final wins! 🏆🏆

Sausage sizzle again this week!!

Whakatane high school girls will be holding a sausage sizzle tomorrow to raise funds for their tournament.
