Yoga is not all graceful poise and balance, when you practice consistently and if you are really really lucky everything else will sooner or later appear.
The healing and repair goes deeper and deeper and luckily, your practice has prepared you for it

I'm reflecting on Ancestral Intelligence (the good kind of AI).
Long before algorithms, the Rishis observed the relationship between breath, mind, body, and consciousness.
Patanjali later distilled this wisdom into the Yoga Sutras: teachings that remain profoundly relevant today.
No matter how advanced technology becomes, we still have access to one of the most powerful regulation tools we carry with us: our breath.
Join me for NeuroSomatic Yoga as we explore the body-brain connection through movement, breath, and awareness.

Kia ora yogis,
Tues class at 9.30 am from now on (no longer from 10.30 am) to warm up with plenty of movement, as well as Nasal breath to be grounded Yes ๐ฅ You got it.
*Fire breath = built-in heater.* Kapalabhati literally means "skull shining breath" but it might as well be "body heating breath".
*Why it works when itโs cold:*
30 sec of gentle Kapalabhati, then 3 slow Ujjayi breaths to settle. Repeat anytime you feel frozen in Down Dog. No one will notice if you keep it soft.

Monday 8 June | 5:30pm
โWinter is a good time to come back to the ground.
โThis week we'll be focusing on the lower body - feet, legs, glutes, and hips - building stability, releasing tension, and creating a sense of groundedness from the ground up.
โExpect slow, mindful movement, nervous system support, and plenty of space to notice what your body is telling you. Your body is your temple - not a project to fix, but a sacred space to inhabit. This week, we work on strengthening the foundation.

NeuroSomatic Yoga with Rachel โ๏ธ
A few days into winter and we're still (kinda) enjoying T-shirt weather! Whanganui has been treating us to some beautiful clear days, and we're making the most of it.
This Friday, we'll focus on opening the front bodyโthe chest, belly, and hips. From a NeuroSomatic perspective, expanding through the front of the body can help support easier breathing, encourage a sense of safety in the nervous system, and counter the tendency to curl inward when we're cold, stressed, or spending more time indoors.
Expect gentle movement, mindful stretching, and plenty of opportunities to create warmth, space, and ease in both body and mind.
