We are a fun community group set up for Hand Drumming in Whanganui. We meet regularly and share structured rhythms & also freestyle open drumming circles.
You might see us out performing, playing beside the river or enjoying a beach drum The regular 'Community Drumming Whanganui' meets weekly Thursday evenings from 6.30pm to 8.30pm (or later). The evening has two modes. The first part of the night we learn something structured together, most often a rhythm which has origins in Africa. We have had a committee chat and decided Community Drumming Whanganui will be hibernating for the upcoming winter term.
A couple of us need some time to rest, learn some stuff and regroup and hopefully return with our enthusiasm and energy in term 4.
We will share links to some rhythms we have learnt so you can practice at home (there’s nothing stopping you guys from getting together and drumming too.)
It’s also a good time to take opportunities and go to workshops if you’re in need a drum fix.
