That's a wrap for our Winter club/school season, folks! Just thought I'd sign-off with a few photos and special mentions for our finalists and competition winners.

Huge congratulations to Hunterville HC for coming out victorious in a reversal of last year's women's final vs Castlecliff Red. Some really classy hockey on display all season - well done, Hunterville. Congrats also to Marist and Waverley who finished equal 3rd.

In our local secondary competitions, Cullinane capitalized on two-years of dominance in the Boys league, defeating Whanganui High School Boys 2s in another reversal of last year's final. Meanwhile, in the Girls competition, Whanganui Girls College secured back-to-back league titles by defeating a very resilient WHS Girls 2s. Massive congratulations to Cullinane, WGC and WHS 2s for superb seasons once again.

Finally, some special mentions to Whanganui teams in the Manawatu league: well done to TCOB 2s who narrowly missed out on the Prem Reserve Men's title (on sudden death shootouts!); but, huge congratulations to WCS Girls 1s who won their Intercity 1 competition, and to WHS Girls 1s who won Intercity 2, making it a clean sweep for our Whanganui girls' teams playing in Palmy!

Hope you've all been enjoying watching the FIH World Cup and supporting our Vantage Black Sticks over in Belgium and the Netherlands! It's been a challenging start for our teams, playing against some of the strongest teams in the world, but there's plenty of hockey still to play.

We're especially proud to be supporting local legend, Rebecca Baker, once again inspiring the next generation of young Whanganui players. Let's go Kiwis! Let's go Bex! πŸ™ŒπŸ˜ŽβοΈ

Due to the bitter weather and widespread illness, Yr 3/4 hockey is CANCELLED this afternoon. There is light snow falling in Pakaraka, hail in Waverley and freezing southerly winds here in Whanganui.

So, for the enjoyment of our tamariki, keep them warm, grab a tennis ball and do some passes with them down the hallway πŸ˜‰

Junior Hockey (Yr 3-8) will have their final games on the week of the 17th August. PlayHQ will be updated and have the last couple of games scheduled next week.

A huge thankyou to Eastown BuildLink for their partial sponsorship of our new junior goals. We appreciate your support. Please shift these gently to protect the hinges.

The Positive Vibes you are showing on the sidelines really help our tamariki to enjoy their hockey experience. Keep up the awesome mahi. πŸ™πŸ‘

A disappointing 0-1 loss for our lads today vs Counties-Manakau. Some solid reflection tonight with laser focus on our final game vs Tasman tomorrow.

Our ladies also had a tight battle, going down 1-0 to Central Otago. Ready to go one last time tomorrow.

Some lovely gifts presented to mens coach Red and managers Rochelle, Monique and Mike. Thank you all for your hours of commitment and mahi.

A cracking 2-2 draw for our men vs North Harbour Wolves 2. Huge growth once again with Jacob getting a beauty touch off another brilliant feed from Mason. Tyler also worked hard to be rewarded with our seconf goal.

Illness has struck our girls down making for a tough game against North Harbour 2 in freezing Palmy conditions. Coming away with a 5-0 loss after working hard. Looking for a good night's sleep and better game tomorrow.
