So thrilled to find this great image of the Thomas Neale Family Memorial Park from 1972 when I was hunting through some files yesterday. Made me think just how amazing having that facility would have been for Whangarei then, and how lucky we still are now!
If anyone has early memories of the Park from the 70's, love to see them in the comments! Love all the sponsors signs all the way along the fence line, can you make out any of the companies 🧐

Hey you.... stop scrolling right now and follow these instructions!
You deserve to play under the glare of a spot light! can help you shine like the tennis star you are, at the wonderful courts of the Thomas Neale Memorial Park, Te Kamo! Dig out your racket, fight the dog for the tennis balls and book a casual court!
Now the tough decision, do I play on the blue hardcourt or the grass.....Hmm? I'd go Blue, might match your shorts better!

Northland Seniors hosted their Masters tournament on Saturday, and why wouldn't you when we live in the winterless north.
The weather turned it on, and the Men's A grade also turned up the heat, with 8 very strong pairings, no easy games here. It was great to host Auckland pairings, Peter and Jason and Krish and Tom, but it was an all-Northland final Keith and Terry playing off against Ngunguru pairing Jonathan and Kerry.
Men's B also didn't disappoint, with Mangawhai pairing of Marc and Phillip taking the final against Springfields Rod and Dave.
In the ladies we had a full draw, and some tight tie break games, Cheryl and Jo from Mairtown undefeated to take the title.
Thanks to Paul, Dave and the Northland Seniors for organising the tournament and especially Margaret who catered the best lunch once again. Thanks to all the players that entered, was a super fun day.
Make sure to put this on your calendar next year, weather guaranteed 😎😁
