Cathedral cove gateway trail will be closed 8th and 9th May. This is to insure Doc contractors can safely carry out wilding pine removal in the Cathedral Cove reserve

⚠️ Due to incoming severe weather, the Mautohe Cathedral Cove walking track will be closed from 5pm Wednesday 16 April. Our team will conduct an assessment on Saturday 19 April to determine if the site is safe to reopen. We will share an update again on Saturday.

With the onset of Cyclone Tam, MetService New Zealand have issued both a Heavy Rain Warning and a Strong Wind Watch for the Coromandel Peninsula, from 12am Thursday 17 April to 12pm Friday 18 April.

The incoming weather forecast predicts sea swells up to 4 metres, wind likely in excess of 100km/hr, and rain in excess of 120mm in 24 hours near Mautohe Cathedral Cove. Wondering where to park to walk to Cathedral Cove this summer?! We have plenty of space here at the Cathedral Cove Gateway Trail Carpark, and parking is only $15 a vehicle including all it's passengers

By order of Department of Conservation (DOC) Cathedral Cove access is closed.
This is due to cyclone damages
-Landslides
-Slips
-Rock falls
-Stairs destroyed down to the beach

Cathedral Cove Gateway Trail is closed today. We have been advised by DOC that they have closed access to Cathedral Cove Reserve due to weather event. We will reopen in consultation with DOC.
