Some people really struggle with using calendars and schedules because they think of their calendar as a judgmental drill sergeant. It tells them they have to do things they don’t want to do and shames them when they don’t follow the rules. At the end of the day or week they feel shame, disappointment, and frustration. It doesn’t have to be that way. You can change your mindset and relationship with your calendar.
My calendar is my friend because it is my best, most intentional self, whispering in my ear all day long. It reminds me of my priorities, my self care tasks, it allows me to rest and play and get all my stuff done. AND it is not set in stone. It can be edited in real time as life happens. I've got this relationship with myself, where I take care of myself. I know what I want. I know what my dreams are. I know how I want my life to be. Therefore, I can create a calendar out of love and compassion for myself, knowing everything I've got on my plate while also knowing the things that I WANT to do. Without my calendar, I would be very easily derailed by all the distractions in life, and at the end of the day, I would be so disappointed that I didn't live my life on my terms. My calendar is my friend and my main tool for living the exact life I want.

Good News! That pill exists! And it's called writing daily or journaling.
I recently lost my journal while we were on the road. I probably left it in a hotel room and it opened my eyes to how much I get from my daily writing habit. The weeks that followed without my journal were so much less productive. I felt more overwhelmed and foggy. It really sucked! It took me a while to get another journal because they aren't as popular in Latin America as in the USA, but I'm back journaling daily and feeling like my usual clear and productive self. What Gets Measured Gets Improved! When you want change, this tactic is your friend. When you are serious about change, you will be tracking and measuring your progress.
Want more money? Track your spending.
Want more fitness? Track your workouts.
Want less fat? Track your meals.
Want better sleep? Track your sleep and note the factors.
Etc. This can be applied to anything.

The news has been as bad as it gets lately with natural disasters, terrorist attacks and war. It's hard to know what to do or how to continue with your daily responsibilities.
I offer this to you:
1. Separate the things you can control from the things you can't.
2. Take all the things you can't control and present them to God, source energy, or your higher-self through prayer or meditation.
3. Focus your attention on things you can control. You can only control yourself. Ask yourself:
- What is my purpose here on earth?
- How can I spread love to those around me today?
4. Take action out of love and not fear. Maybe take some time off for self care and healing. Maybe make a financial donation to an organization that spreads love. Maybe talk to your kids about the current events.
The most important takeaway is to Focus On What You Can Control and let go of the rest.
Start living a more intentional and joyful life today! Here are 3 AWESOME questions to ask yourself every morning.
1. What is one thing you are excited about or can get excited for today?
2. Who do you want to inspire today? Who are you a role model for? Who is watching you?
3. Who do you want to be and how do you want to show up today? Pick 2 or 3 words, and use them as you set your intention for the day.
Do your best, be kind to yourself, and have an amazing day!

We drove straight to the panama canal and parked in the parking lot. It was a bit surreal! This place I learn about in elementary school, so far away, and here I was with my kids. My kids got to learn about it, not in a book, but by seeing it in action. There is a nice building with a museum and of course a gift shop. Then you get to the viewing deck. It was crowded, but not too much. We got a spot right in front. It's a slow process and yet it's still exciting to watch the water rise and fall and the boats make their way across. There was a lot of time for selfies, lol!
Let's talk about your notifications. Are they serving you or distracting you? Are they setting you up for success or sabotaging your success? Do they encourage you to take care of yourself or direct your attention to look at what others are doing, fostering feelings of failure and inadequacy?
I want to challenge you to take control and ownership of your notifications this week. Only allow notifications that support your purpose and align with who you want to be and how you want to spend your day. I talk about how I have organized my notifications in this video, and I hope it inspires you and helps you do the same for yourself.
