World Oceans Day 🌊
The ocean is at the center of almost everything we do here in Santa Catalina.
It’s where we surf, where we explore, where we connect with nature, and where so many unforgettable moments happen during a retreat.
It’s also home to incredible marine life and supports the local communities that depend on it every day.
Protecting our oceans doesn’t have to start with something huge. Often, it’s the small choices that add up over time. Choosing reef-safe sunscreen, reducing single-use plastics, respecting wildlife, and supporting local conservation efforts are all simple ways to make a difference.
We’re lucky to spend so much time in and around the ocean. Today is a good reminder to help protect the places that give us so much in return.
Happy World Oceans Day 💙

Every week brings a completely different mix of people to Santa Catalina.
Some arrive ready to surf as much as possible. Others are craving rest, a reset, or simply time somewhere that feels different from their normal routine. Some are nervous before arriving and settle in almost immediately.
And somehow, by the end of the week, everyone usually overlaps a little.
That’s probably one of our favorite parts of what happens here. Different people, different reasons for coming, but the experience still finds a way of bringing everyone onto the same wavelength for a while.
Tell us… which one are you?! We’d love to know 😉

A lot of people plan surf trips around conditions alone.
And yes, good waves matter. But usually, what people remember most ends up being everything around them.
The atmosphere of the group. Feeling comfortable in the water instead of pressured. Having time to rest between sessions. Staying somewhere that feels connected to the place you’re visiting instead of separate from it.
Even the best conditions can feel off if the environment around them doesn’t feel right.
Over time, we’ve realized the experience is rarely shaped by just one thing. It’s the combination of the surf, the people, the pace, and the overall feeling of the week that stays with people long after they leave.
Tell us about your experience!

A look back at the week 🌊
Different levels in the water, a lot of really fun waves, and a few days here in Santa Catalina that reminded us why people keep coming back.
Some sessions were clean and playful, others asked for a bit more patience, but that’s usually where the most progress (and the best stories) come from.
What stood out most was the group energy. People cheering each other on, sharing boards, laughing between sets, and spending long days together in and out of the water.
No two weeks ever feel the same, and this one had a really good feel to it.
Grateful for everyone who was part of it.
