Shihan Henry Gougon ta keda rekordá komo un di e pionero mas importante di Kyokushin karate (Full Contact Karate) na Kòrsou. Komo fundador i maestro, el a hasi un kontribushon grandi na desaroyo di e deporte riba nos isla.

Durante hopi aña, el a guia su propio skol di karate i a entrená cientos di hóbennan i adulto den Kyokushinkai karate. Ku su dedikashon, disciplina i pashoen, el a inspirá i forma diferente generashon di karateka.

Shihan Henry Gougon a logra e grado di 5e Dan i a pone e fundeshi pa kresementu di full contact karate na Kòrsou. Diferente luchadó conocido di Kòrsou, inkluyendo kickbòkser Rudolf Conquet, a kuminsá nan carrera den su dojo.

Su legado ta sigui biba den komunidat di karate na Kòrsou i ta keda un inspirashon pa futuro generashon.

Shihan Henry Gougon wordt herinnerd als een van de belangrijkste pioniers van het Kyokushin karate (Full Contact Karate) op Curaçao. Als oprichter en leermeester heeft hij een grote bijdrage geleverd aan de ontwikkeling van de sport op het eiland.

Gedurende vele jaren leidde hij zijn eigen karateschool en begeleidde hij honderden jongeren en volwassenen binnen het Kyokushinkai karate. Met zijn toewijding, discipline en passie wist hij generaties karateka’s te inspireren en te vormen.

Shihan Henry Gougon behaalde de 5e Dan-graad en legde de basis voor de groei van full contact karate op Curaçao. Verschillende bekende Curaçaose vechtsporters, waaronder kickbokser Rudolf Conquet, begonnen hun carrière in zijn dojo.

Zijn nalatenschap leeft voort binnen de Curaçaose karategemeenschap en blijft een inspiratiebron voor toekomstige generaties.

Shihan Henry Gougon is remembered as one of the most important pioneers of Kyokushin Karate (Full Contact Karate) in Curaçao. As founder and instructor, he made a major contribution to the development of the sport on the island.

For many years, he led his own karate school and trained hundreds of young people and adults in Kyokushinkai karate. Through his dedication, discipline, and passion, he inspired and shaped generations of karate practitioners.

Shihan Henry Gougon held the rank of 5th Dan.

5 atleten zijn afgereisd naar Fort Worth, Texas om deel te nemen aan de Junior International Cup en de USA Open — en wat hebben ze gestreden! 💪

🥉 Gabriel Londono Ruiz (“Prospect of the Year”) liet zijn klasse zien met een 3e plaats op de Junior International Cup en pakte opnieuw brons bij de USA Open.

🥉 Damir Francisco bewees zich in zijn categorie en nam een welverdiende bronzen medaille mee naar huis.

🥉 Ruviëne Mathilda liet een sterke prestatie zien. Na een verlies in de halve finale tegen een Amerikaan, herpakte zij zich knap en pakte alsnog brons!

🏅 In totaal: 4 bronzen medailles én een schat aan ervaring!

5 athletes traveled to Fort Worth, Texas to compete in the Junior International Cup and the USA Open — and they showed true fighting spirit! 💪

🥉 Gabriel Londono Ruiz (“Prospect of the Year”) secured 3rd place at the Junior International Cup and earned another bronze medal at the USA Open.

🥉 Damir Francisco proved himself in his category and brought home a well-deserved bronze medal.

🥉 Ruviëne Mathilda delivered a strong performance. After losing in the semifinal against an American opponent, she bounced back and secured bronze!

🏅 Total: 4 bronze medals and a lot of valuable experience!

5 atleten reizen af naar de Verenigde Staten van Amerika voor de USA Open en Junior International Cup in Fort Worth, Texas. Van 2 tot en met 5 april zullen zij de strijd aangaan.

Het bijzondere is dat het om twee toernooien op dezelfde locatie gaat. Dit biedt een groot voordeel voor de jeugd en junioren: zij kunnen meerdere partijen vechten en hun ritme goed op peil houden.

5 athletes are traveling to the United States for the USA Open and Junior International Cup in Fort Worth, Texas. From April 2nd to 5th, they will step onto the mat ready to compete.

Kòrsou a risibí un ènvitashon spesial komo pais hóspet. Den varios deporte, Ruviëne Mathilda lo ripresentá Kòrsou den karate.

Curaçao doet mee aan de Bolivariaanse Spelen (Juegos Bolivarianos).
De Bolivariaanse Spelen zijn een internationaal multisportevenement voor landen die historisch verbonden zijn met Simón Bolívar, de bevrijder van Zuid-Amerika.
Curaçao is uitgenodigd als gastland voor deze editie. In verschillende sporten is het eiland vertegenwoordigd, en Ruviëne Mathilda vertegenwoordigt Curaçao in het karate.
Samen met zijn coach Jezus Costina gaat hij de strijd aan voor een medaille. Na een lange en intensieve voorbereiding is Ruviëne er helemaal klaar voor.
Hij start op zaterdag 6 december.

The Bolivarian Games are an international multisport event for countries historically connected to Simón Bolívar, the liberator of South America.
Curaçao has been invited as a guest nation for this edition. Among the various sports, Ruviëne Mathilda will represent Curaçao in karate.
Together with his coach Jezus Costina, he is ready to fight for a medal. After a long and dedicated preparation, Ruviëne is fully prepared for the challenge.
He will compete on Saturday, December 6th.

Van 21 t/m 23 november vonden de Special Olympics Kingdom Games plaats op Curaçao—een uniek evenement waar atleten met een mentale of fysieke beperking volledig centraal staan.

Tijdens de openingsceremonie mochten een aantal karateka’s een speciale demonstratie geven, met Elian Sambo in de hoofdrol. 🥋🔥
Zijn indrukwekkende performance liet zien hoe krachtig en toegankelijk karate kan zijn voor iedereen.

Met zijn mooie demonstratie heeft Elian bewezen dat we op de goede weg zijn met Para Karate. Een trots moment voor de sport én voor de gemeenschap. 🙌

From November 21st to 23rd, the Special Olympics Kingdom Games took place in Curaçao—an inspiring event where athletes with mental or physical disabilities were truly at the center.

During the opening ceremony, several karate athletes performed a special demonstration, with Elian Sambo taking the lead role. 🥋🔥
His impressive performance showcased the strength and inclusivity of karate for all.

Through his beautiful demonstration, Elian showed that we are on the right path toward developing Para Karate. A proud moment for the sport and for the community. 🙌

Wat een mijlpaal! Het 35-jarig bestaan werd groots gevierd met een internationaal toernooi waar atleten uit Aruba, Bonaire, Trinidad & Tobago, de Dominicaanse Republiek en Suriname samenkwamen.
Met meer dan 100 deelnemers was het een krachtig en inspirerend evenement!

Het twee dagen durende toernooi werd officieel geopend door Minister-President Gilmar Pisas, wat de viering extra bijzonder maakte.

Gefeliciteerd Karate Do Buena Vista met deze prachtige prestatie en jarenlange toewijding aan de sport!

What a milestone! The 35th anniversary was celebrated with an international tournament featuring athletes from Aruba, Bonaire, Trinidad & Tobago, the Dominican Republic, and Suriname.
With over 100 competitors, the event was a powerful and inspiring success!

The two-day tournament was officially opened by Prime Minister Gilmar Pisas, making the celebration even more special.
