NSL PREVIEW: Interesting matches on card

NSL THERE will be interesting matches in in the Men’s Northern and Southern Conferences National Soccer League on Saturday.

In the Northern Conference at the PNGFA Academy Oval, Lae City FC will take on Lae City Dwellers which should be an heated opening match at 11am. Lae City FC after a 2-1 win over Tusbab Stallion at Laiwaden will want to continue their winning run against the Peter Gunemba-coached side, LCD.

Lae Natives who came from behind to beat FC Morobe Wawens should add Lahi FC to its string of victims. Lahi for some unknown reasons has not found its right combination to stay competitive with other opponents in Northern Conference.

FC Morobe Wawen has not performed to its best will take on visiting Tusbab Stallions in the final game. Stallions will have to prove to soccer fans that their loss to Lae City was a fluke.

Stallions coach Rachel Wadunah who does not want to dwell on the result is pinning her hope for his boys to do much better than their last outing at home. The Wadunah brothers Ricky and Jason will play a big role to decide the outcome of the match.

Nothing must be taken away from Wawens. The team is still finding its feet and combination to take on their opponent as well. It should be a good weekend of football at PNGFA Academy.

And in Southern Conference, the competition leaders Amoana FC will be put to test by very experienced Gulf Komara side.

Komara who joined the competition a week late have so far recorded one draw and one win.

With the inclusion of season campaigners in Nigel Dabinyaba, Michael Foster and acrobatic goalkeeper Ismael Pole, the team has become very solid in offensive play which always provide options for striker Renagi Ila to score.

The return of nomadic Pala Paul should add some spice on the attack for Gulf Komara.

Amoana are a very young side, representing Koupa Soccer Association from Kaparoko village in the tough semi professional league. Under the coaching of Naime, the team have so far recorded big wins over their opponent and will do the same against Komara this weekend.

It should be a good clash as players from neighbouring villages of Babaka and Kaparoko will be up against each other.

The second game, will see young Hekari United out fit take an new-look NCD Souths. South have been playing good football but have not been finding the net lately so coach Koriak Upaiga should have something up his sleeves to deliver to Hekari.

Hekari United coach David Muta knows what to takes from NCD Souths so he will be fully prepared for the game.

In the main game, FC Genesis should record its first win against NCD FC. NCD FC has some of the best players but coach David Taro must ensure the players give their 100 per cent in the game to win matches.

The other NSL matches will be played in Mt Hagen, Kimbe and Buka. (See the draw below)
