NEWS UPDATE: 🇵🇬 PNG GARAMUTS 14-MEMBER SQUAD NAMED AHEAD OF ICC U19 EAP DIVISION 2 QUALIFIER

Cricket PNG has named the 14-member PNG Garamuts Under 19 men’s squad that will represent the country at the upcoming ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup East Asia Pacific, Division 2 Qualifier.

*The 14-member squad is:*

3. Puka Raho – Pari CC
4. Manase Gaba – Konepoti CC
5. Garminick Sabadi – Tubusereia CC

Head Coach Kila Pala led a comprehensive program that provided all players in the expanded squad with the opportunity to showcase their skills throughout the selection process.

Coach Kila said, “I am really pleased with the 14 players selected. The expanded squad gave everyone an opportunity to showcase their skills, and that made the final selection a challenging one. We have a good mix of dynamic batters and bowling options across both pace and spin, and I believe these players have the ability to represent our country, PNG strongly. This is an important opportunity for the players to gain international experience, continue developing as cricket players and make the most of the opportunity.”

The selection represents an important opportunity for the players to gain international experience and continue their development within the Cricket PNG pathway.

The U19 Garamuts are scheduled to depart on this Saturday, 5th September at 9:30 a.m for the tournament.

As our PNG Lewas get back into training and August comes to an end, we look back on a great week of sunshine, cricket and friendship here at Amini Park.

We were proud to welcome the Thailand Women’s Cricket Team to Papua New Guinea for an exciting international tour featuring a T20I Series from 10–11 August 2026, followed by a three-match ODI Series from 13–17 August 2026.

From competitive cricket on the field to the friendships built off it, the tour was a wonderful celebration of women’s cricket and the spirit of the game. 🏏🇵🇬🇹🇭

Our First XI captain for this upcoming season will be none other than Assad Vala! Assad has been at the club for the last two seasons and has been a strong presence in our first XI over that time. Being the captain of the Papua New Guinea international team Assad brings with him a wealth of experience and we look forward to seeing EHCC flourish under his leadership! Good luck to Assad!

NEWS UPDATE: 🏏 ICC Match Referee Praises Port Moresby and Cricket PNG 🇵🇬

ICC Match Referee Kent Hannam has praised Cricket PNG, Amini Park and the professionalism of PNG’s national team following the Thailand Women’s tour in August 10-17, 2026.

Hannam, from Australia, officiated during the two T20Is and three-match ODI series in Port Moresby and praised the quality of the wickets prepared by Cricket PNG’s ground staff.

“We are really pleased to be here, to be part of this series in Port Moresby at Amini Park. We thought the wickets that were presented by the head groundsman and his staff were excellent,” Hannam said.

He described PNG as a “heartland cricket country” and praised the Barramundis’ performance at the ICC East Asia-Pacific Sub-Regional Qualifier in Japan.

“I was lucky enough to be there. They played the better cricket. And all round were the most professional outfit that were at the tournament.”

Hannam also praised the PNG Lewas’ preparation and professionalism throughout the Thailand Tour to PNG series.

“Seeing how the Lewas too prepared extremely well. They were very professional in the way they came to the ground, played the game and with their warm downs over the course of the series,” he said.

He said PNG cricket was in good hands under Cricket PNG Board Chairman Michael Harrison and Head Coach Tim McCaskill.

Hannam also described Port Moresby as a “terrific place to come and visit” and praised Amini Park and Cricket PNG’s support during the tour.

“The facility here is fantastic for cricket. And we, myself as well as my fellow match officials, thoroughly enjoyed our time here in Port Moresby,” he said.

“We welcome the opportunity to come back at any stage here to Port Moresby and Amini Park, under the stewardship of PNG Cricket,” he added.

The Thailand tour provided valuable international exposure for the PNG Lewas while showcasing the country, Amini Park and Cricket PNG’s match-day and tournament operations to ICC officials.

MEMBERS of the PNG Barramundis recently joined the Cricket PNG game development officials and conducted practical activities in schools across Port Moresby, engaging directly with students as part of grassroots cricket development.

The visits covered the Hohola Demonstration Primary School, Wardstrip Demonstration Primary School, and Bird Wing International. They provided students with an opportunity to learn basic cricket skills through their direct engagement with PNG’s national players and officials.
