"The purpose of sadhana is definitely not enlightenment. It is to become aware of your positive self."

Inspiring words from Swami Niranjanananda Saraswati.

In our sadhana, we connect with Prana Vayu as a literal, physical movement of air moving inside our body. Through Nadi Shodhana and Hasta Mudra Pranayama, the students became observers of the air traveling through their own internal space.

We mapped this experience using the ratio 5-5-5-5:

Inhale (5): Feeling the expansion of the hollow spaces inside.

Hold (5): vitalizing and nourishing the inner body parts with awareness.

Exhale (5): Sensing the warm passage of air moving out, carrying away tension and detoxifying the system.

Hold Empty (5): Pausing in the stillness of zero air—resting in total relaxation.

We don't just breathe; we allow ourselves to be moved by the wind (air) within.

Here's a message on the 12th International Day of yoga for the Global Yoga aspirants by Swami Niranjanananda Saraswati of Bihar School of Yoga.

Greetings and Hari Om to all the yoga aspirants around the world. As we come nearer to the International Day of Yoga, there is a global interest and excitement to practise yoga on 21st June. Today the world is practising yoga asanas, but they are not living the yogic lifestyle.

Yoga is not just a quick workout that you do for an hour and forget about it. It is a way of living with mindfulness, simplicity, discipline, positivity and clarity.
Right now, the world does not need more information.

It needs a change. It doesn't need to rush. It needs balance.
It doesn't need more ambition. It needs direction. That is where yoga becomes important for everyone who truly wants to learn it.

Start with yourself. Take a look at your own body, your own thoughts, your own emotions, your own breath, your feelings, what you say and how you act.
Don't judge yourself or try to explain and justify yourself.

Just become aware. And awareness is the key of yoga.
Try to practise a little every day.
Make your practise regular, sincere and balanced.
Do some asanas to make your body feel steady.
Do some pranayamas to make your energies flow more smoothly.
Do some mantras to clear the mind.
Do some meditation to connect with inner peace.
Do some seva to soften your ego.
And do some svadhyaya to understand who you are and how you can contribute in the betterment of the self, the society and the world.

Don't make yoga too complicated. Live it in a small, everyday way.
Eat with awareness. Speak with kindness. Work with focus.
Rest with relaxation. Relate with compassion.
Face challenges with courage.
Do your duties with sincerity. That is practical yoga.

The goal of yoga is not to escape from life, but to make it better.
A yogic person should feel more peaceful, more helpful, more balanced, more creative, more responsible and more humble.
If your yoga doesn't make you a better person, then it is not complete.

Remember the three qualities – head, heart and hands.
Get clear thinking, positive heart and good skills in your hands. Think clearly.
Feel good. Act. This is the foundation of yogic life.

The world is going through tough times with tension, anxiety, stress, confusion, isolation and conflict.
So every yoga aspirant has a responsibility. Keep peace within yourself. Create harmony in your family. Be sincere in your work. Offer kindness to others.
Let your life be a small light of awareness.

Do not wait for big experiences. Do not run after visions, powers or recognition.
The real achievement in yoga is balance.
The real sign of progress is simplicity.
The real expression of spirituality is kindness.
The real test of sadhana is how you live, how you speak, how you respond and how much happiness you are able to share with others.

Yoga is not for one country, one religion, one culture or one community. Yoga belongs to humanity. It is a gift for the evolution of human consciousness.

Practise it sincerely. Live it naturally and share it lovingly.
Be disciplined but not rigid.
Be devoted but not narrow.
Be active but not restless.
Be spiritual but not separate from the world.
Let yoga become your lifestyle.

Let awareness become your companion.
Let positivity become your strength.
Let service become your expression.
Let peace become your contribution to the world.
This is the yoga which is needed today.

I extend to you greetings on this special day for you to take a sankalpa,
a resolve to live a yogic life.
Hari Om Tat Sat. Hari Om Tat Sat. Hari Om Tat Sat.

Religion and Spirituality

There is a huge difference between religion and spirituality. Religion says, "Believe", while spirituality says, "Seek. "This discovery is to be made not outside, within yourself, in your heart." That's the basic difference between the two.

Most people today don't understand the difference between religion and spirituality. They believe that what is religious is spiritual, and what is spiritual is religious. But it's not necessary. An atheist can also be spiritual. She may not be religious, but she may have spirituality. On the other hand, there are many religious people who lack spiritual instincts.

Therefore religion and spirituality are two different ways. Research, self-discovery and searching for truth is the path to spirituality. Worship, rituals and traditional religious conduct are the path of religion.

Spirituality means discovering.
What to discover? Discovering the divinity that exists within us. The search for divinity is not finding God somewhere out, but finding positivity, light and consciousness in your life. The question is not where God is, but how we receive the light in our life.

The journey of human life is the journey of moving from tamas to truth. This is the change we can make possible in our lives.
The retirement is not just for the retirement. This is meant to be human. The saint needs this as well as the household. Today's man is so confused in mobile and technology that his contact with himself is decreasing.
Remember this truth that religion and spirituality are different things. Atheist can also be spiritual, and many religious people do not develop spirituality.

Another thing worth remembering. Only meditation, chanting and meditation does not make everything happen. Balance is essential in life. It is necessary to be balanced of both the lines of the scale. If the flash of karma becomes light and the person is only interested in notice, not in karma, development will remain incomplete. It becomes harder to sit quiet even for a minute for those who are only engaged in karma.

Controlling playfulness and establishing balance is the key part of practice. One of the biggest challenges faced by society in the coming times will be the lack of attention and concentration crisis. There are many resources available to constantly distract humans, so the need for balance and awareness has increased more than ever.

The secret of life is in balance. The coordination of both karma and meditation, outer activity and inner peace is the basis of spiritual growth.
