We are currently writing a report on the recently concluded WAP NATIONALS 2026 – SEA GAMES YOUTH PLUS TRIALS. In the meantime, we are sharing the gems we find along the way in installments! Pending the posting of the official results, CONGRATULATIONS to the following wrestlers who medalled in the 2026 Palarong Pambansa AND successfully participated in the Nationals/SEA Games Youth Plus Trials despite the inclement weather! Congratulations to their coaches, teams, families, and supporters as well!
Here are their names, teams, and the medals they won in the 2026 Palarong Pambansa:

1. Nica Sicat – Leyte, silver
2. Mei Chris Jan Cuizon - Team Dumog - Tagum City, bronze
3. Lhea Mae Concillado - Leyte, gold
4. Miriam Grace Balisma - RP TEAM – NCR, gold
Men

7. Steven John Oagdan - Koronadal Wrestling Club, silver
8. Jhonly Baclayon - Leyte, bronze
And a special mention to athlete and trainer Jun Morales, as featured in our reshared post from the General Mariano Alvarez Wrestling Club! His is a "special case": He missed his chance to join the Palarong Pambansa because the games were suspended during the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic. In fact, even his region's qualifier, the CALABARZON Athletic Meet, was canceled at the time. However, he has proven himself to be a highly competent wrestler by winning a bronze medal in the recent nationals!
Another positive note from the recent WAP competition highlights Charles Johnson Calawen, who won a bronze medal representing Cordillera Career Development College/CAR in the 2026 Palaro. Already listed as a member of the Philippine Team for the nationals, he secured a gold medal this time.
Recruiting outstanding wrestlers from the Palarong Pambansa and the Batang Pinoy remains an excellent practice to infuse fresh blood into the Philippine Wrestling Team. Now, we await the official results of the WAP Nationals 2026 – SEA Games Youth Plus Trials. Stay tuned!
