ABC-Agri Leads RSSI Cup: Fusion, Lancer Gold Punch Tickets to Best-of-Three Finals
Bacolod City — The championship stage is set for the ABC-Agri Leads RSSI Cup after Fusion and Lancer Gold pulled off contrasting victories in their semifinal matchups at The Leisure Hub.
Fusion clinched the first Finals berth with a commanding 84-63 victory over Nano Urea. Fusion wasted no time establishing dominance, as Titing Cañete and Errol Ledesma spearheaded a blistering first-quarter assault to build a quick 14-point cushion. Nano Urea refused to go quietly, orchestrating a second-quarter fightback led by Arriel Tornilla and Gerald Lentorio to trim the deficit to just five points by halftime. However, Fusion quickly slammed the door shut in the second half as Fredel Doromal joined forces with Cañete in the third period, outscoring Nano Urea 20-11 to push the lead back out to 14. A barrage of three-pointers in the final frame officially put the game out of reach, sending Fusion comfortably into the championship round.
Cañete paced the victors with 18 points, while Ledesma and Ronan Batralo provided ample support with 17 and 12 markers, respectively. Tornilla led Nano Urea in the losing effort with 17 points, Mark Cuaycong had 13 and Lentorio finished with 12 points.
In the second game of the doubleheader, Lancer Gold dug deep to hold off a furious second-half rally by Leadforce, escaping with a thrilling 73-71 win.
Lancer Gold appeared to be cruising early, riding a dominant first half to establish a commanding 15-point lead. But the narrative flipped entirely in the third quarter when Lancer Gold’s offense went completely cold. Leadforce caught fire from deep, draining four three-pointers to storm back and seize the lead heading into the final 10 minutes. The fourth quarter turned into an absolute dogfight. Borj Cua and Deoden Monillo hit timely baskets to restore a cushion for Lancer Gold, but Leadforce’s Jorge Joniega and JF Quinto kept knocking on the door with clutch counters. In the game's final minute, Chac Mirano stepped up to the free-throw line under immense pressure, calmly sinking four consecutive free throws to seal the victory and prevent the collapse.
Cua put on a masterclass for Lancer Gold, finishing with a game-high 28 points, while Mirano chipped in 12. JF Quinto paced Leadforce with 25 points while Jorge Joniega added 11 in the losing effort.
