The experience allowed our cadets to see firsthand how technology is transforming ship operations, training, safety, and the wider maritime sector—giving them a broader perspective beyond what can be learned inside the classroom.

OIC DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM — COMPLETED ⚓

Another important step forward in preparing our future shipboard leaders.

The Officer in Charge (OIC) Development Program has successfully concluded, bringing together developing officers for focused learning on the knowledge, judgment, leadership, and professional responsibility expected as they progress to greater roles onboard.

The program went beyond technical competence. It also emphasized the human side of leadership — communication, decision-making, teamwork, situational awareness, accountability, and the ability to remain effective under pressure.

For every participant, completion of the program is not the finish line. It is part of the continuing journey toward becoming a more capable, dependable, and well-rounded maritime officer.

Our appreciation goes to the facilitators, speakers, organizers, and participants who contributed their time, experience, and insights throughout the program.

PCC & WCC FORUM 2026 — COMPLETED ⚓

A meaningful day of learning, sharing, and professional exchange as we successfully concluded the Pure Car Carrier (PCC) & Wood Chip Carrier (WCC) Forum today, 18 September 2026.

The forum brought together officers, crew, cadets, and industry professionals to discuss operational experiences, lessons learned, emerging concerns, and practical ways to strengthen safety and performance onboard.

More than just a series of presentations, the forum served as a venue to exchange real shipboard experiences and turn them into lessons that can help prevent incidents, improve decision-making, and support the next generation of maritime professionals.

Our sincere appreciation to all speakers, participants, organizers, and colleagues who contributed to the success of the event.

The PCC Forum begins, bringing together our seafarers, cadets, and maritime professionals for an exchange of operational experience, lessons learned, and emerging challenges in Pure Car Carrier operations.

Today’s discussions include timely topics such as dual-fuel readiness for alternative-fuel operation, recent Paris/Tokyo MoU PSC and AMSA inspection results, and lessons from recent incidents—turning industry developments into practical knowledge that can be brought onboard.

For our cadets in attendance, the forum is also an opportunity to see that professional development extends well beyond the classroom. The realities of ship operations continue to evolve, and learning from experienced professionals is part of preparing for the responsibilities ahead.

⚓ OIC DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM — DAY 1

Today marks the first day of MKMTCI’s Officer in Charge (OIC) Development Program, bringing together our Promotable ABs and Oilers, Third Officers (3/O) and Fourth Engineers (4/E) who are currently on vacation.

The program is designed not only to refresh technical knowledge, but also to strengthen the confidence, judgment, communication, and professional readiness expected from officers onboard.

Throughout the sessions, participants are encouraged to explain, discuss, ask questions, and share their own experiences—because development happens best when learning becomes a conversation, not simply a lecture.

Our responsibility goes beyond observing performance onboard. We also have a role in helping our seafarers continuously enhance their knowledge, competence, and readiness for greater responsibilities.

Day 1 is just the beginning.

Here’s to meaningful discussions, stronger competence, and the continued development of our future senior officers. ⚓

MKMTCI officially welcomes Cadetship Batch 49 as they begin their first day of training and preparation.

The road from cadet to competent seafarer is built one day at a time—through discipline, technical learning, teamwork, responsibility, and the willingness to keep improving.

Today may be their first day, but the habits they develop from here will eventually follow them onboard, where preparation becomes responsibility and knowledge becomes practice.

Congratulations to Class No. 26-510-020 on the successful completion of Basic Training for Ships Using Fuels Covered within the IGF Code (BTIGF). ⚓🔥

Despite the heavy rains and flooding experienced during the training week, the participants remained committed and completed the course, demonstrating the same discipline, adaptability, and resilience expected of seafarers at sea.

The training combined classroom learning with practical exercises focused on the safe handling and operation of ships using low-flashpoint fuels, including emergency response, firefighting, use of protective equipment, and casualty handling.

As alternative fuels become increasingly important in modern shipping, competence in IGF operations is becoming an essential part of preparing seafarers for the changing demands of the maritime industry.

Through hands-on drills and assessment, the participants strengthened not only their technical knowledge, but also the situational awareness, teamwork, and safety mindset needed when operating in higher-risk fuel environments.

Well done, Class No. 26-510-020. Rain or shine, training continues. Competence strengthened. Ready for the next challenge.
