“In the marathon, the first half is just a normal run. At 15 kilometers, 20 kilometers, everybody is still going to be there. Where the marathon starts is after 30 kilometers. That’s where you feel pain everywhere in your body. The muscles are really aching, and only the most prepared and well-organized athlete is going to do well after that. I’ll go with the pace, but after 30 kilometers, I’ll change to my own pace. And if you’re ready to follow me, then we can go together.”

10 need-to-know training tips if you plan on running a marathon 08/03/2018

How a newbie prepared for her first halfmarathon. She started with a plan and committing to it, mileage progression, having a training partner with the same level of fitness, hydration/nutrition, pacing, mental preparation, lessons learned and other useful tips. Seems a lot but doing one step at a time consistently, you'll be ready on race day.

Tough 50k (rather 54k)!

I knew it's going to be a challenging race because of the heavy rains in the mountains. Embracing mother nature and adjusting my own expectations helped me cross the finish line safely. Congrats to all finishers and superb job to the organizers and volunteers!

Photo: Mt Ayaas summit around 30+km mark. A killer climb after summiting 3 peaks. Didn't stay long as I have to climb Mt Parawagan (another steep climb to the summit).

Compressport La Mesa Forest Run 21k 16/11/2017

Uploaded my data of the 2017 Compressport La Mesa Forest Run (21K distance).

Recommended for runners who are new to trail running and seasoned runners looking for fast course. There are four distance categories - 6k, 12k, 21k and 42k. The race course is located inside the La Mesa Nature Reserve (protected area) where you get to experience pure rainforest in the city! It's a well-organized race too.

2018 Cebu Marathon Training (Week 8/17):

Joined Compressport's La Mesa Forest Run yesterday to run on soft ground and give my legs a break from the concrete road. Turned out it was not a walk in the park, I mean forest :). The rolling terrain and unlimited mudfest from beginning to end made it tougher than I thought. Never underestimate a race with flat course. It was amazing to see and run the lush green forest of La Mesa. Kudos to the organizers!

Distance: 21k
Unofficial finish time: 2:26
