Congratulations Coach Felix R-b, owner and founder of 8Strikes: La Union -MAX Fusion !

Felix Rafael Blase learned to fight in a rice field in Bauang, La Union. His first coach was his father Rogelio, a kickboxing black belt who finished his fighting career 4 and 0. They had no gym. They had the field.

In Grade 2 he was diagnosed with primary complex and asthma, and the doctors told him to stop. He did, for years. He went to Quezon City to study for the ministry and failed a year before finishing. He carried that home. His mother embraced him with no anger in it, and that was where he started again.

He finished a political science degree in 2022 and found Brazilian jiu jitsu at DEFTAC La Union under Joel Yaptinchay and Juan Rico Rulloda. For a long time he could not win gold. His dream, in his own words, was a bronze.

On May 30 and 31 this year he was in Taipei for the ASJJF Marianas Pro Taiwan, competing in No Gi Light Featherweight 62kg. He reached the final, lost on points, and took silver. On August 8 he won gold at the Manila Jiu Jitsu Festival.

In March he opened his own gym, 8 Strikes Max Fusion La Union, and started coaching Muay Thai. The gym his father dreamed of and never had, built a generation later by his son.
