Closing the Education Gap Through Connectivity

Yesterday, December 16, 2025, our team from Team Malaya, together with Sir Benjamin representing Team Don't Stop Running Community, in coordination with DepEd Tayo Cordillera and with the help of Atty. Augustin Laban, we successfully donated the promised Starlink unit to one of the farthest schools in Ifugao, Ahin Elementary School in Tinoc, Ifugao.

This Starlink, with a FREE monthly subscription, came from the two Run for a Cause events by Team Malaya. It all started with CordilleRUN Baguio and the Nueva Vizcaya edition, followed by the most recent iRun for Education. All these runs shared the same goal, to help one of the most isolated schools in the Cordillera Region. The school was nominated by Atty. Augustin Laban and coordinated with the Department of Education Cordillera through the help of Ma’am Mayclaire Casinto Aquino-jimenez.

When the team acquired the Starlink last August, Tinoc, Ifugao was severely affected by Super Typhoon Uwan, which caused delays in the turnover due to multiple road closures. Despite the challenging terrain and conditions, we were very grateful to finally complete the turnover yesterday.

To all the runners and teams from DSRC, RWP Baguio and Ugnayan NV who supported us during CordilleRUN and the recent I Run for: Education, thank you so much. Every one of you played a part in making this possible.
We will continue these two events in the future to help sustain the monthly subscription of the Starlink.

By God’s grace, we also hope to add more Starlink units and extend help to other schools in the Cordillera that truly need this kind of service, closing the education gap through connectivity.

However, there are matters beyond our control. The organizers of iRun by &@@“ are no longer in communication with us, and we understand how frustrating this feels—kami rin, runners tayo, alam namin ang pakiramdam.

That’s why Team Malaya, together with our technical team and suppliers, has decided to push through with the event. At the same time, we will assist you in requesting refunds from the main organizers.

This decision is not easy. The organization has already suffered major losses, but because you registered with trust in us, we are willing to make sacrifices just to give you the event you deserve.

Our country was recently hit by two major typhoons, which have affected many of us, including our event preparations. While we’re expecting better weather this Sunday the organizers, MyTea Luffy food OPC, have decided to reschedule the event — new date to be announced (TBA) this coming days.

Race kit claiming will still proceed tomorrow at MyTea Luffy Cafe in T. Alonzo Street, Baguio City, 1:00PM to 6:00PM.

For those who may not be available on the new date (once posted), refunds or a Virtual Run option will be offered by main Organizer (MyTea Luffy food OPC) including shipping fee, just send a direct message to this page.
