Gov. Garcia expresses interest hosting of national chess event in Bataan

A national chess tournament may soon be held in Bataan as Gov. Joet Garcia expressed interest in hosting a major chess event in the province, according to Erickson Marimla Association of Bataan Chess Players (ABC).

Marmila said ABC officers recently had a productive discussion with Gov.Garcia regarding the development of chess in Bataan, particularly in providing more opportunities for young athletes to showcase and enhance their skills through high-level competition.

The proposed hosting of a national chess tournament is expected to strengthen grassroots sports development in the province while giving local chess players the chance to compete against some of the top talents in the country.

The association is optimistic that the initiative will help promote chess and inspire more youth participation in the sport.
