The air was electric as competitors gathered for the 𝐋𝐃𝐂𝐔 𝐉𝐇𝐒 𝐌𝐀𝐏𝐄𝐇 & 𝐓𝐋𝐄 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐡'𝐬 𝐊𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞-𝐝𝐨 𝐓𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭, a fierce testament to 𝘥𝘪𝘴𝘤𝘪𝘱𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘦, 𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘨𝘵𝘩, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘱𝘪𝘳𝘪𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘤𝘢𝘮𝘢𝘳𝘢𝘥𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘦. Living Embodiment of Passion and Service

It is with heartfelt sorrow that we celebrate the life and legacy of Ma’am Zacarlyn Tapal—the MAPEH/TLE chairperson of the JHS Department—who, after embracing life for 58 years, passed away on the 11th of March at exactly 5:30 PM. She walked the thin line between life and death, suffering from numerous health problems. Yet, despite all these challenges, her passion for teaching remained stronger. She continued teaching and serving at Liceo U despite the pain, even expressing that being at school eased her suffering, if only a little.

Her embers have waned, but she has left an unforgettable mark on us all—a legacy we will carry in our hearts. Through her passing, she leaves us with an important lesson: health is wealth. We must always prioritize our well-being, no matter what. Even if it feels selfish, taking care of ourselves is essential.

It is okay to grieve, to let the tears flow—but remember that Ma’am Zacarlyn Tapal, a person whom students and faculty alike viewed as a lola, mother, and sister, would not want us to mourn for long. She, who kept a cheerful attitude despite her pain and suffering, would undoubtedly want us to be happy.

All good things come to an end, including the lives of great people. Ma’am Zacarlyn Tapal was one of those amazing people whose journey ended too soon. May we reunite with her in heaven one day.
