Robert Garcia Predicts Ryan Garcia Will Knock Out Conor Benn

Robert Garcia believes Ryan Garcia has the focus, form and power to stop Conor Benn when the two meet for the WBC welterweight title on September 12 in Las Vegas.

The respected trainer expects Garcia to deliver a statement performance in the biggest fight of his year and believes the WBC champion will not need the judges to get his hand raised.

Speaking to Fight Hub TV, Robert Garcia praised Ryan’s preparation and said the 27-year-old appears significantly more focused than he was for some of his previous fights.

“I think [Ryan] is in great shape for this one, because he wants to defend [his title]. He wants to be the champion, the best in the welterweight division.”

Garcia also believes the champion’s current mindset could make a major difference when the two fighters meet.

Robert Garcia Predicts a KO

Despite acknowledging that Benn could have a chance if he manages to absorb Garcia’s power and take the fight into the later rounds, Robert Garcia does not expect that scenario to unfold.

“I don’t think it goes twelve rounds. I think Ryan wins by knockout.”

The prediction would give Garcia his 21st professional knockout if it comes true.

Robert Garcia believes Ryan has the speed and punching power to overwhelm Benn before the fight reaches the championship rounds.

Sparring Reports Add to the Hype

Robert Garcia also revealed that he has heard reports from people in Southern California who have been searching for replacement sparring partners because of the damage Ryan has allegedly caused during camp.

“I hear from people in Southern California looking for sparring partners because he’s been hurting sparring partners and they need to find new guys…”

That claim, however, remains anecdotal and has not been independently verified, so it should be viewed as part of Robert Garcia’s assessment of Ryan’s current form rather than a confirmed report from Garcia’s camp.

Still, the message is clear: Garcia’s team believes the champion is entering fight week in peak condition.

Benn’s Weight Cut Remains a Major Question

The fight will also mark Benn’s return to the 147-pound welterweight limit, a weight class he has not competed at since 2022.

Benn has openly discussed the difficulty of making the division and has indicated that the Garcia fight is expected to be his final appearance at 147 pounds before moving back up.

That has made Garcia’s punching power one of the biggest talking points heading into the contest.

For Robert Garcia, however, the focus is less on Benn’s weight and more on what Ryan Garcia brings into the ring.

“If there’s one [moment] he’s not focused, or Conor Benn is able to take his punch and goes into the later rounds, then we could maybe see a chance. But I don’t see that.”

Garcia Looking to Make a Statement

Ryan Garcia enters the fight as the WBC welterweight champion after defeating Mario Barrios by unanimous decision to capture the title earlier this year.

Now he faces one of the biggest challenges of his career against Benn, who has built an unbeaten record since moving through the upper levels of the welterweight division.

A dominant victory would give Garcia another major win on his résumé and further establish him as one of boxing’s biggest stars.
