Help Coach Rich Fight His Toughest Battle Yet
In combat sports, injuries are part of the game. We train knowing there are risks every time we step onto the mats, into the ring, or inside the cage.
But sometimes an injury changes everything.
Our teammate, coach, and brother, Coach Rich, recently suffered a devastating knee injury during a training and study sparring session at another gym. Medical examinations confirmed a torn ACL, MCL, and meniscus, injuries that will require surgery and a long road to recovery.
The injury came at a time when life was finally lining up for him.
Coach Rich is a 4th-year Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics student, preparing to begin his internship this August as he enters the final stretch of his journey toward graduation.
He had also recently been drafted to the Philippine Combat Jiu-Jitsu Team, earning the opportunity to train and compete internationally later this year while representing the country he loves.
Years of sacrifice, early mornings, hard training sessions, studying, coaching, and chasing big goals had brought him to this moment.
Now, everything has been put on hold.
The estimated cost for surgery, treatment, rehabilitation, and recovery is minimum of PHP 500,000. The physical challenge ahead is already difficult enough. The financial burden makes it even heavier.
If you’ve trained with Rich, been coached by him, competed alongside him, or simply crossed paths with him, you know the kind of person he is. He shows up. He works hard. He helps others. He gives more than he takes.
Today, we’re asking our community to show up for him.
Every donation will go directly toward helping Coach Rich access the treatment and rehabilitation he needs. Every share helps us reach more people. Every message of support reminds him that he isn’t fighting this battle alone.
At Pugilist Gym, we believe that the strength of a martial arts community isn’t measured by medals or titles. It’s measured by how we take care of each other when life gets tough.
Coach Rich has spent years lifting others up.
Now it’s our turn to lift him up.
Thank you for your support, your generosity, and for being part of this journey
