Good for another 1000 dives...?

At the end of each dive 'on house reef, I'd pass this rain jacket smothering the coral. I'd gently tweak it to see if I could remove it easily, but it was tightly wrapped and bound.
Today I put on my mask n fins and swam out with my knife and as gently as I could - cut it off.
Sadly the stag-horn coral that was suffocated by this man-made, non-biodegradan trash looks pretty dead - only time will tell if it recovers.

After a 5:30am coffee and ride to Loon my boat was cancelled due to the coming tropical storm Basyang. I was tempted to return to Panglao where I have friends, but as I looked at this view I remembered that I'd been wanting time to myself for a long time. Clearly this was mother nature's way of telling me to have some me time.

Two days ago, entering the surf backwards, a wave knocked it clean off my face and into the murky mix of sand, debris, and plastic. Gone.
Today at low tide, I found it sitting there waiting for me right next to the dive shop jetty.
I’ll organise a clean-up dive as a thank you.
