HATS OFF, RAMONISTAS!
Ramon Duterte MNHS Scrabble Team conquered its seventh consecutive Unit 3 Meet Championship in the High School Division since 2015 after sweeping the 3-round game against Salazar Colleges of Science and Institute of Technology (SCSIT) with a record of 12 wins and +2638 spread points.
Moreover, the group won Special Awards:
Caroline Oloden scored 580 points for the HIGHEST SINGLE GAME (HSG), and Ivy Marie Del Rio scored 101 points for the HIGHEST SINGLE TURN (HST) on the word "ZITIS".
Our heartfelt gratitude to the unwavering support of our dear coaches in their own unique way. Thank you Ma'am Amar Obalone and Sir Chard!

RAMONIAN TILERS STRIKING IT RICH!
Ramon Duterte Memorial National High School Scrabble Team wrapped up the recently concluded 2023 South District 6 Sports Meet as the Champion after scoring 12 total wins and +2485 accumulated spread points.
With that being said, the team also achieves its fifth year game-sweeping streak—winning every board game in the competition.

NEVER LET YOUR FEAR OF FAILING TRIUMPH OVER THE JOY OF PARTICIPATING ✊
Ramonian Tilers once again participated in the 1-day and 6-round open scrabble tournament of The 2nd Councilor Rey Gealon that was held at the City Wing Atrium, SM Seaside Cebu.
The HIGH SCHOOL CATEGORY was participated by scrabblers from various schools.
🌱 Current Ramonian scrabbler and a shrewd young woman, Caroline O. Oloden has once again conquered by finishing as the 4th runner-up in the high school category with 4 wins and +498 cumulative spread points and secured a special award of HIGHEST SINGLE TURN (HST) with her word "GANGSTERS" for 136 points at the same time. A proof that her skills in Scrabble is indefatigable, as her recent tournament participation was on March 11, 2023—it was her very first inclusion in the podium ranks.
This placement by Oloden is her SECOND PODIUM FINISH and personal best.
🌱 Another current scrabbler, Shinji James Estoy made another remarkable feat for Ramonian Scrabble after securing the special award of HIGHEST SINGLE GAME (HSG) by scoring a whopping 630 points.
Overall, Ramonian tilers accumulated one (1) medal placement and two (2) special awards.
All awardees received medals and cash prizes.

Although it has not been long since you were appointed as our new scrabble coach, you have already shown how passionate and dedicated you are to our success.

FAREWELL MINI-TOURNAMENT OF SIR JAY KENNETH
The Ramonian scrabblers successfully held a mini-tournament organized by Sir Jay Kenneth, a former Ramonian tiler who is currently a science intern for Grade 8 tilers, together with his mentor, scrabble coach Ma'am Mara Ebonalo.
The mini-tournament featured two categories: "trainees" and "mini-coaches."
The "trainees" category consisted of three rounds of Round Robin format with each round having one team on bye. Meanwhile, the "mini-coaches" category utilized the King of the Hill format with four rounds played.
There were three teams with two coaches and three or four trainees per team participating in the mini-tournament.
In the "trainees" category, Team 1 emerged as the champion with 5 wins and +504 spread points. Karl Celetaria from Team 1 received a special award for Highest Single Game (HSG) with his score of 496 points. Team 2 and Team 3 ranked second and third, respectively.
In the "mini-coaches" category, Shinji James Estoy emerged as the winner with 3.5 wins and +195 spread points. Ivy Marie Del Rio and Caroline Oloden came in second and third, respectively, with 2 wins and a +36 spread and 1.5 wins and a +27 spread.
All winners were awarded medals and food prizes sponsored by coach Mara Ebonalo and Sir Jay Kenneth.
The top 3 winners of the "mini-coaches" category will also receive cash prizes from Sir Jay Kenneth.
The scrabblers also received certificates for their participation in last week's 1st Councilor Rey Gealon's open scrabble tournament.
Tilers extend their gratitude to Sir Jay and coach Mara for organizing this memorable tournament, and to Coach Richard for his continued support.
Special thanks to Mam Novabos for allowing us to conduct the tournament over the weekend and Sir E-Jay Oftana for providing us with the SHS science laboratory venue.

RAMONIAN TILERS GARNERED UNANTICIPATED VICTORIES
in the 2-day and 12-round open scrabble tournament of THE 1st Councilor Rey Gealon that was held at the City Wing Atrium, SM Seaside Cebu.
The HIGH SCHOOL CATEGORY was participated by scrabblers from various schools.
Current Ramonian scrabbler and dark horse Paulo John Mabano had an unprecedented victory by finishing as the 2nd runner-up in the high school category with 9 wins and +410 spread points.
This is proof that his excellence in Scrabble is ceaseless, as his most recent tournament participation was in December 2022, yet he managed to secure a medal placement in his comeback.
This placement by Mabano is his FIRST PODIUM FINISH and personal best.
Another current scrabbler, Ivy Marie Del Rio, made another remarkable feat for Ramonian Scrabble after securing the special awards of HIGHEST SINGLE GAME (HSG) by scoring 570 points and at the same time the HIGHEST SINGLE TURN (HST) with her word "EARTHING" for 163 points.
She received two medals and cash prizes for these.
Former Ramonian Scrabbler Divine Angel Padilla, who participated in the tournament for the college category with 15 rounds, also received a special award for HIGHEST SINGLE GAME (HSG) for her whopping 602 points.
Her victory is identical to Paulo's, who manifested Ramonian Tilers' excellence in scrabble that never fades.
Another tiler, a Ramonian adopted alumnus from the University of Cebu, King Jos Rydan S. Relatorres, was hailed as a CHAMPION🏆 in the college category with 13 wins and +1500+ spread points.
He was gibsonized for the last 2 rounds as it was already
guaranteed that he would receive the top prize and could not be overtaken. Indeed, King is the King of the Hill for the college category.
Overall, Ramonian tilers accumulated five (5) medal placements. Three (3) are coming from the high school category and two (2) from the college category.
All awardees received medals and cash prizes.

MAY THE SCRABBLE GODS BE WITH YOU, RAMONIAN TILERS!
Ramonian tilers held their last practice today under the supervision of dedicated coach Ma'am Mara Ebonalo as a preparation for the 1st Councilor Rey Gealon Scrabble Open Tournament that will be held on Saturday and Sunday (May 6 and 7) at City Wing Atrium, SM Seaside Cebu.
This will be a debut for most of the Ramonian tilers that will be joining the tournament, specifically the Grade 8 tilers, and another exciting battle for the seasoned players.
They will be competing individually with other scrabblers from various schools in the high school category with the pairing system of Swiss King of the Hill (KOTH) for 12 rounds.
Cash prizes, gift packs, medals, and e-certificates will be given to the prize winners. All participants will be given certificates.
