USC TAKES GAME ONE!

JUST IN: The USC Lady Warriors take game one of their best-of-three Cesafi women's volleyball tournament finals against the USPF Lady Panthers on Sunday, January 28, 2024, at the USC Main Campus gymnasium.

The University of San Carlos (USC) Warriors will advance to the finals of the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc. (CESAFI) Men's Volleyball tournament after defeating the defending champion, Cebu Institute of Technology-University (CIT-U) Wildcats in a thrilling, back-and-forth five-set battle in the semifinals. CIT-U secured the first set with a score of 25-21, USC took the second set after multiple deadlocks with a score of 37-35, the third set went to CIT-U to take match point with a score of 25-23, USC finished the job in the fourth and fifth set with a 25-21 win in the fourth, and 16-14 in the fifth.

The Warriors will face the University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) Jaguars in a best-of-three series in the finals. Game one will be on January 28, 2024, game two will be on February 3, 2024, the games will be played at the University of San Carlos (USC) Main Campus Gymnasium.

Leading the semi-final parade are the USJ-R Lady Jaguars, who are still not giving up their championship title from last season without a fight. Coming in second are the USC Lady Warriors, showcasing their ability to rise to the top with the best of the best. The CIT-U Lady Wildcats are clawing their path and making noise as they manage to seal their spot, and they have no plans of slowing down. And it may be an unexpected placement for the USPF Lady Panthers considering their face-off against the Jaguars last season, but that doesn’t mean that they’ve run out of powerful attacks and masterful strategies. These top four teams are representing their universities with pride and honor as they gear up for a spot in the finals.

JUST NOW: A seat-grabbing match took place between the defending champions, the CIT-U Wildcats, and the USC Warriors, as the latter outlasted the defending champions in a 4-set match of 31-33, 25-22, 21-25, and 22-25.

A surprising turn of events was witnessed as the Warriors and Wildcats faced each other during last season’s championships, and now the Warriors have finally gotten their redemption. Setter John Tubil, wearing jersey #4, was named the Best Player of the Game.
