Through a series of workshops, drills, seminars, accreditation programmes, and capacity-building initiatives, the Visayas Technical Officials (VISTECH) Region VII, in partnership with the University of San Jose–Recoletos (USJ-R), continues to strengthen basketball officiating across the municipalities of Cebu Province.

Together, we are committed to developing competent and ethical officials who champion fair play, foster harmony, promote peace, support drug prevention, and help create organised, safe, and violence-free basketball tournaments—one game, one official, and one community at a time.

STORIES: Basketball Beyond the Scoreboard

Every basketball court has a story to tell. Through the Youth Basketball for Peace Programme, young athletes, referees, coaches, volunteers, parents, and community leaders have found a common purpose.

From barangay basketball clinics and officiating workshops to leadership seminars and safety and security training, participants discovered that basketball is not only about winning games—it is about developing discipline, respect, teamwork, accountability, and community responsibility.

Young participants learned that wearing a jersey represents commitment, while holding a whistle symbolizes fairness, integrity, and leadership.

These stories continue to inspire communities across the Visayas, proving that sports can change lives both inside and outside the court
