Labfey-Moyano Tandem Emerge Victorious in 2nd Wowow Cup Fixed Doubles; Barrozo Claims Regular Weekly Singles Championship

Dagupan's 2nd seed, Raffy Labfey and Oliver Moyano pulled off a stunning victory by defeating the favored duo of 4th seed Jayson Agbayani and Benson de Vera, despite the latter’s twice-to-beat advantage.

Labfey and Moyano showcased precision scoring and timely outshots, securing a decisive 3-0 win in the first set, which forced a sudden death leg of 701. The shift in momentum proved detrimental to Agbayani and de Vera, as they struggled to regain the form that had carried them through earlier rounds. De Vera had even earned the side award for hitting the tournament's first 180.

Meanwhile, the 3rd-seeded team of Jason Estrada and Raymond Cabusas secured 3rd place after defeating Dagupan’s top seed, Rommel Barrozo, and his partner, Braille Cawis.

In the side event of the 2nd Wowow Cup, the Bull Master title went to Benson de Vera, who triumphed in a sudden-death 3-dart shootout against Raffy Labfey. Both players scored 7 points in the elimination rounds, but De Vera edged out Labfey with a 3-1 win in the decider.

DDCI President and Wowow Cup sponsor Ronnie Mauricio was present to show his support and encourage the players. President Mauricio reaffirmed his dedication to promoting the sport of darts, not just in Dagupan but also in the surrounding communities. He urged members to actively participate in the weekly ranking games, highlighting their importance not only for improving rankings but also for fostering a competitive spirit.

In the weekly ranking singles event, Rommel Barrozo claimed the championship, defeating his rival and 2nd seed, Raffy Labfey, in a tense final match.

Looking ahead, the DDCI calendar features two major upcoming events: the Katuwaan Cup, sponsored by DDCI Past President and 2003 Darter of the Year Cris Antipuesto, scheduled for November 2, 2024, and the much-anticipated DDC Masters on December 14, 2024. Both events will be held at Winz BBQ, with the DDC Masters serving as the grand finale of the year’s tournaments before the holiday season.
