For many players, this is one of the most frustrating issues with chrome, metallic, and electroplated paddle edge bands—and while manufacturers may acknowledge it, cosmetic paint damage is often not covered under warranty.

ChromeLock™ is an innovative protective coating designed to solve this problem at the source. It applies a clear, ultra-thin film over the edge guard, creating a durable barrier that helps protect the underlying paint from stripping, peeling, and chipping. Once ChromeLock™ is applied, your paddle’s finish is no longer directly exposed to everyday impact and abrasion.

And when edge tape is installed, the tape adheres to the ChromeLock™ protective layer—not directly to the paint underneath. That means easier tape removal, less risk of paint lift, and a cleaner-looking paddle over time.

Not all paddle finishes react the same to edge tape or adhesives.

As shared by a paddle brand, some paints may be more sensitive; meaning chipping or peeling along the edge can happen in certain situations.

We know it’s not ideal, and we understand the frustration. That’s why we continuously improve our services and explore better solutions to address common issues that are not typically covered by warranty.
