Every session begins with preparation warming up the body, waking up the muscles, and focusing the mind. It’s a reminder that discipline starts even before the first movement.

Then comes keiko, where we push ourselves, make mistakes, learn, and improve little by little. Every strike, every step, every correction is part of the journey to becoming better than we were yesterday.

And after the intensity comes the cool down slowing the body, controlling the breath, and allowing the muscles to recover. It’s the quiet moment after the storm where we reflect on the training, the lessons, and the progress made.

This event is part of the 𝗦𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗙𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗽 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 and will cover technical drills and practical application for all intermediate level kendokas.

The sound of the floor, the clash of bamboo, and the focus of the soul. The rhythmic sound of fumikomi, the clash of shinai, and the echoing kiai.. there’s no atmosphere quite like a full dojo. Kendo is a marathon of the mind, and today’s keiko was a masterclass in staying present. It’s not just a sport; it’s a way of life that teaches us to face challenges head-on with a clear mind and a steady heart ❤️ So glad to have Akagi Sensei back in Davao!

This Gasshuku will help prepare and select the National Team for the 𝟭𝘀𝘁 𝗔𝘀𝗶𝗮‑𝗢𝗰𝗲𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗮 𝗞𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗼 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽𝘀 (30–31 May, Tokyo).
𝗔𝗟𝗟 𝗠𝗘𝗠𝗕𝗘𝗥𝗦 and interested kendokas are welcome to join the training and take part in the practice shiai. It’s a great opportunity to improve your kendo, meet the coaches, and connect with kendokas from across the Philippines. Local senseis will be supporting the sessions. Non‑UKFP members are welcome.
