Pido ready to defend crown today in SIGLO100km Ultramarathon

POLICEMAN Jonathan Pido of Tagum City is ready to defend his crown in the second SIGLO 100km Ultramarathon which is today, Saturday, May 30 at 4 p.m. in-and- out back course at the Magsaysay Park in Sta. Ana Avenue, DavaoCity
“I’m ready to defend my crown,” said Pido a few hours before kickoff at Magsaysay Park.
Pido is one of 30 repeat runners, who will answer the gunstart.
“I'm targeting around 10-11 hours, so it's possible at 2-3 am it will finish,” said Pido.
The others are Edgar Adarlo, Kenneth Bayron, Arvin Bonifacio,Isidro Cabanday Jr., James Casaña, Rusel Casleb, Jayneil Castillon, Ellis Victor Cobarrubias, Ryan Rel Digao, Sam Galvez, Arnold Guartico, HarejieHuerbana, Amerhasan Ibrahim, Roberto Lingeras, Lito Mallari, Fritz AngeloMallari, Catherine Nazarene, Saldy Boy Pabuhot, B**g Panao, Zandro PetinExentos, Faustino Ramon Quiocho III, Ruben Ramos, Raffy Ruel Reyes, RowenSampadong, Rommel Selga, Rey Timbreza, Angelito Vertudazo and Jake Soriano.
Evelyn “Bakachang” Morales of Kapatagan, Digos City will also be defending her title in the female category.
A total of 109 long-distance runners will see action today.
The race starts at Magsaysay Park going to Bajada,Lanang,Panacan, Tibungko, Bunawan and Lasang turning point back to Panacan, Buhangin Diversion Bypass, Ulas, Catalunan Pequeno and Mintal.
Then it turn around the Bypass to Libby road, Baliok, Lubogan,Toril left turn Mc Arthur highway, Matinacrossing, Quimpo Boulevard, Quezon Boulevard, and finishes at Magsaysay Park.
The 2nd SIGLO 100km will now have a total cash prize of P40,000.
The men and women champion will earn both P10,000. The second will pocket P6,000 while the third will get P4,000.
Race director is Rod Lanorias of Alpha Phi Omega Fraternity.
