Almost every day I see the same comments and messages:

"How po"
“Paano po maging VA?”
“Interested.”
“How to apply?”
“Hello po, hiring po ba?”

And I understand why people ask.

But here’s the truth many beginners don’t hear early enough:

If your first question is “Where can I apply?”

You’re already approaching freelancing the wrong way.

Because freelancing is not about waiting for hiring posts.

It’s about positioning yourself so clients want to talk to you.

And that requires strategy.

Not hope.

• Facebook groups
• Indeed

But here’s what most beginners don’t realize.

When a client posts a job:
Within minutes — dozens apply.
Within hours — it becomes hundreds.

Now ask yourself honestly:
Why would a client pick you instead of the other 150+ applicants?

If your proposal sounds like this:
“I am hardworking and dedicated…”

You already blended in.

Clients aren’t hiring adjectives.

They’re hiring solutions.

• You apply too late

• You’re offering too many services
• You haven’t chosen a niche
• Your proposal is too long

Freelancing rewards clarity and positioning.

Not just effort.

If you’re using job platforms, try this instead:

Apply early (within the first hour).

Keep your proposal short.

Mention something specific about their business.

Give a quick improvement idea.

End with a simple question.

Example:
“Hi Jenneth, I noticed your Instagram reels don’t start with a strong hook. I have a quick idea that could improve watch time. Would you like me to show a sample concept?”

Short.

Relevant.

Confident.

That’s how you stand out.

Everyone is fighting over the same job posts.

Meanwhile, thousands of potential clients are posting content every day.

Look at:

• Coaches
• Small business owners
• Real estate agents
• YouTube creators
• E-commerce brands
• Consultants

Instead of asking:

“Are you hiring?”

Try noticing what they need help with.

Low engagement.
Poor captions.
Messy inbox.
Inconsistent posting.

That’s where opportunity lives.

Approach with value.

Your portfolio is proof of skill, not proof of employment.

Experience can be built.

• Send 5 intentional applications
• Reach out to 5 potential clients
• Improve 1 portfolio sample
• Spend 30 minutes learning a skill
• Post content that shows your knowledge

Repeat for 30 days.

Most people stop after a week.

That’s why most people never get results.
