I just drew with GM David Howell, one of the seconds of the great GM Magnus Carlsen. 🤯🤯🤯
The game opened with the Queen's Indian Defense, with GM Howell capturing my Knight on f3 damaging my pawn structure.
I could have sacked my rook on d4, creating some initiative, but it's GM Howell, so a draw is already good. 😊😊😊
Play against the Budapest!
Another counter-attacking defense against d4, black gambits a pawn on e5 as early as move 2 taking the initiative with his knights and bishop. White usually just returns the pawn and develops his king to safety.
In this game white prevents the activation of the rooks via Re8-e6-h6 or a5-Ra6-h6 by attacking the bishop on c5, thus, retreating to either a7 or e7.

Play against International Master Series
Check out the video and find out why you should never allow a black knight to be planted on d4 out of the opening. Our opponent, accepts our challenge by advancing his pawn to d5 probably thinking he can remove our knight on d4 without concession. He soon finds it difficult to develop his pieces since capturing the knight will be replaced by an equally annoying passed pawn.

How to beat the Colle System?!! 🤔
The Colle system is very similar to the famous London System where white establishes a solid pawn chain with c3, d4, and e3. One major difference is the placement of the dark-square bishop which remains on c1.

Play the Geller Gambit! 😎
Against the solid defenses we usually like to play dynamic openings such as the Geller Gambit against the very solid Slav Defense. White allows black to keep his extra pawn in exchange for a strong center and initiative out of the opening.

Play Against FIDE Master Series
One of the main challenges when playing against masters is that they try to drive the game into unfamiliar territories.
In this game Black started with the modern defense (1. ... g6) then played f5 shifting to the Leningrad Variation of the Dutch Defense and then transformed into the stonewall variation with the Bishop on g7 instead of d6 or e7.
What follows is a battle of manuevers by both sides trying to generate an attack out of the closed position.

The game features an Open Catalan where black decides to capture on c4 and generate counterplay with his light-squared bishop.
However, rooks on the seventh rank combined with the back rank weakness proved too much for the Black pieces to defend.
