MSU-Gensan Dancesports Team

𝗜𝗧'𝗦 𝗔 𝗪𝗥𝗔𝗣

The MSU-Gensan Dancesports Team with selected students from different colleges finally had the chance to perform last night at the 1st Mindanao State University System Research, Extension, and Internationalization Summit. The performances were successfully completed with the collaboration of the Kabpapagariya Ensemble, Arya Band, and MSU-Chorale. This was done to provide entertainment during the summit, which was attended by all MSU campuses and was hosted by the MSU—General Santos City campus. The performers showcased their talent by performing a classic musical play focusing on the theme "International Visibility and Increasing Public Value through Research and Extension". The said event was held in Grand Summit Hotel, General Santos City.

Being a part of this significant event was a huge opportunity for the team, so they are extremely grateful to Sir Norman Ralph Isla for providing the MSU-Gensan Dancesports Team with the chance to show off their capabilities. The team also expressed gratitude to ma'am Rochelle Baliong and Sir Reymart Canja for their guidance and mentoring throughout the entire preparation and performance. The team's ability to develop their talent and skills in performing various types of dances makes this experience one they won't soon forget.

The MSU-Gensan Dancesports Team is now seeking for new members who are eager to learn or improve their dancesports skills. This is your chance to show off your talents and enter our competition either inside or outside the school. You will also have the chance to participate in dancesports as a university varsity.

The audition will take place at MSU Gymnasium on January 11, 2023 starting from 9am onwards. And we'll have the training at 3pm in the afternoon.

Please prepare the routine you have chosen—it can be either latin or standard. The MSU-GSC Dancesports Team's head coach will choose the new team members. You can do a solo, a pair, or a group audition. Please wear an appropriate clothing while auditioning.

|𝗜𝗧'𝗦 𝗔 𝗪𝗥𝗔𝗣|

The MSU-GSC Dancesports Team competed in the 2nd Philippine Open and the 9th GSYF Summerlympics Dancesports Championship on May 28, 2022. It was a fantastic opportunity for the team to pursue their passion while also exhibiting their talent in dancesports.

Five pairs of students from various categories took part in the event:

Grade C and D Standard Category Semi Finalists:

Grade C and D Latin Category Qualifiers:
AJ Mangiduyos & Diana Kaye Lamery
Lance Batiancila & Jenevieve Abram
John Rainier Lopez & Stepheny Dizon

Also, recognizing their coach, Sir Reymart J. Canja, for winning first place in two categories with his winning piece;

The Team also had the opportunity to capture the moments with the recent 31st SEA GAMES Dancesports Medalists.

All these moments would not be possible without the help and guidance of the Gensan Dancesports Team, headed by Sir Jps Villodres and Ma'am Lou Villodres. The team is also grateful for their coaches' support, sir John Jay Morido, ma'am Sam Laviente, ma'am Jinny Chee Kee and ma'am Mara Cuya.

Of course, all of this wouldn't be attainable without the presence of Sir Reymart Canja. All of the sacrifices and hard work were immensely appreciated in developing the team's talents and dedication.

All of these experiences will be worth remembering.

9 participants of the MSU-Gensan Dance Sports Team had a courtesy visit at the Office of the Chancellor this morning, April 11, 2022. The group represented the University in the 2nd Manila Open Dance Sport Championship 2022 held last March 26-27. Moreover, Acting Chancellor JD Usman D. Aragasi, MPA warmly welcomed and extended felicitations to the participants on behalf of the University.

The MSU-Gensan Dance Sports Team bagged the following awards:
1st Place (Gold) – Open Duo Male (Latin Category)
2nd Place (Silver) – Open Duo Female (Latin Category)
3rd Place (Bronze) – Open Duo Female (Latin Category)
Semi-Finalist – Grade C Couple (Standard Category)
Semi-Finalist – Solo Youth D (Latin Category)

Magdiwang!! It's time to celebrate the victory.

The MSU-Gensan Dancesports Team unlocked their new achievements by winning three medals in the recently ended 2nd Manila Open Dancesports Championship online event.

Congratulations to all worthy student athletes who have worked hard to attain this success. This is an achievement worthy of celebration after all of your hard work in training.

More achievements to go!! Fighting MSU-GSC DST!!

|𝗨𝗣𝗗𝗔𝗧𝗘|

Manila Open Dancesports Championship 2022 is an event that is open for all aspiring dancers from different places. And the MSU-General Santos City Dancesports team participated in the event together with the Gensan Dancesports Team.

It was a big opportunity for the MSU-GSC Dancesports Team to be able to showcase their potentials in dancesports. The team had nine members who compete the said event and it was the first time for the team to participate in such event bringing the pride of their school and community.

Three medals have been awarded to the team (one gold, one silver, and one bronze). And two semi-finalists.

Gold 🥇 - Mike Fred Gamutin & Lance Batiancila (Duo open Male 1)
Silver 🥈 - Diana Kaye Lamery & Jenevieve Abram (Duo open Female 1)
Bronze 🥉 - Krissa Ivy Navarez & Stepheny Dizon (Dou open Female 1)
Semi-Finalist - Jherson Gagnao & Maj Selose (Couple Standard Grade C)
Semi-Finalist - John Rainier Lopez (Solo Latin Male Grade D)

All of the accolades won by the team would not have been attainable without the guidance and cooperation of a few important individuals who aided in various ways in the event's preparation. Special thanks to the Step One Family / Gensan Dancesports team, led by Ma'am Lou Villodres and Sir Jps Villodres, for molding the MSU-GSC Team to the pinnacle of their dance careers. Also, appreciation to Ma'am Samm Lavente (Sports Manager), Sir Lorie Martin (Chairperson), seniors and coaches Lea May Sereneo, Sir John Jay Morido, and Ma'am Jinny Lumasag Chee Kee, their advice and support provided motivation for the team to succeed.

And of course, the team will not be formed without the presence of sir Reymart Canja. This man had put in a lot of time and effort to make the team the best it could be.

This team will always be grateful for their accomplishments and hope for more in the future.
